In my case, I DO owe the amount I'm being harrassed over. I got in over my head, had some unexpected family emergencies, and just couldn't pay the minimum amount due on my American Express card. I was in constant contact with Am. Exp. and asked them what would happen if they turned it over to a collection agency. I was told I'd be able to work with the collection agency to pay only what I could afford. So, this is what I let happen.

Then, I start getting calls from Allied Interstate--AT WORK. They refuse to talk about my making payments at all. They want the full amount NOW. The man I've spoken to (Richard Petrilito) is a sleaze-ball! The first time we spoke he said his name was Mr. Petrilito. He was very rude and abusive.

After that call I wrote a letter to the Director of Compliance and complained. I asked--demanded--my work number be removed and that I not be called there again (I have no home phone at the moment). I sent a copy of this letter to American Express, along with a letter letting them know I was disappointed that a reputable company like Am. Exp. would use a company like Allied Interstate. I

also sent a money order to Allied Interstate and told them I'd be sending payments every other week until I was back on my feet. Then yesterday I get another call (AT WORK) from someone named Richard at Allied Interstate. He refused to get off the phone when I kept telling him I was at work and wasn't allowed personal phone calls. I made arrangements to call him from a friend's phone after I got out of work.

When I called his extension, I was put through to the voicemail of RICHARD PETRILITO. Earlier (at work), he had made comments about how he was a "nice" operator and I wouldn't want to get someone like I'd spoken to before, would I. Low and behold, it's the same guy! Anyway, I left a message (actually, quite a few messages) telling him not to call me at work anymore. I'm going to follow that up with a letter today.

THESE GUYS ARE THE WORST!!

This office has been fined by the MN Dept. of Commerce for violations of the FDCPA!

Does this guy work out of their FL office? If so he is licensed in MN under the name of Rick Patralio with the office address as
3111 S. Dixie Hwy, Ste. 101, West Palm Beach, FL 33405.

If you call the MN Dept. of Commerce and ask them what they were fined for and how much the fine was they will tell you. The number there is 800-657-3602 and their hours are 8am-4:30pm CST. If they will take a complaint from you that might be good because this is a MN based company; if not you could always complain to whatever organization licenses collection agencies in your state, if there is one. If not, you can get in touch with your attorney general's office as well as the Federal Trade Commission.

FYI--they can't call you at work after you have told them to stop!
Good Luck!
