I applied for a student loan back in 1981 to finish my college education in an accredited US university. Unfortunately, it was too expensive and, therefore, could not get my bachelor's degree. For many years I worked in the US, and filed my Income Tax return, only that the reimbursement was garnished and applied towards the payment of the loan.

It has been 27 years since then, that should have been past history, right? Well, wrong!!! Like our colleage Donna, they are overcharging me, and being harrassed by several companies, including Allied Interstate.

Today, I had the first call from one of their agents from Allied. She sounded hesitant and ready to have a discussion. Made all types of questions that only a detective would ask to a suspect. I mean, not friendly but arrogant. I had to pretend that I was not at home, just to find out that she has called my place of work. I called my director and confirmed about the calls. I suggested that next time to tell them that they are not allowed to take their calls and that it is a company policy.

My next step is to search on the internet. I immediately found more complaints for this so-called "allied" agency, that I decided to take action ASAP and write about this.

Actually, that loan should have been paid a long time ago, since my tax reimbursements never came into my hands, but to the Dept. of Education. On top of that, how dare they try to collect over $6,000.00 of a $2,500.00 loan I took over 25 years ago. Believe me, this is not an unsecured loan....it should have been paid a long time ago.

My next step is to consult with an attorney and set the record straight. I know that next time they call, I will slap them with a lawsuit for harassment.

While I'm sharing my story, I found this website that will help you to find more information. This link, http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/fdcpa.html, gives you the information regarding FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act); and http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/handle-collectors.html list Allied Interstate on top of the agencies with bad guideline ethics.
