Allied Van Lines ripoff Chicago Illinois
We hired an agent for Allied Van Lines (Orth Van & Storage in Arcadia, CA) to move us within the state of California. Allied Van Lines' name was on the truck & most of the paperwork. We were told by the agent we were doing business with Allied Van Lines, so we hired them. We purchased a full insurance/coverage policy to replace/repair any damaged or lost items.
The movers damaged & lost items, & when we tried to collect, the agent kept ignoring us. I filed a complaint against the agent with the local Better Business Bureau, and they ignored the BBB, also. When I contacted Allied Van Lines & explained the situation, I was told, "We're sorry, but that has nothing to do with us because it was a local move. We're only responsible if it's a state to state move." I tried to reason with Allied Van Lines that since the agent was an affiliate of theirs' & had their name on its trucks & paperwork, they're (AVL) ultimately responsible for the agent's actions. They shouldn't let them do business using their name, otherwise. My argument fell upon deaf ears.
