This is a report/complaint against Allstate Group Builders (Esteban "Steve" Gomez) and Ruben Trejo. The house was located at 3909 S. M. St. Mcallen, TX 78503, LOT 50, Paseo Del Lago, Hidlago County. We found out about this individual through Ruben Trejo located in Spring, Tx and now currently residing in Conroe, TX in an area called Harpers Landing.  Ruben claimed he got connected with Mr. Gomez through his brother Jugo at a BMW dealership a couple of years ago in Mcallen, TX. We went through with this builder/contractor because my brother n law Ruben Trejo said Mr. Gomez was legitimate and Mr. Alonzo Cantu had allowed him to build on his lots. My original plan was to locate to Mcallen, Texas but with the building phase taking extremely long and with my life changes, we decided to roll it into an investment property. Esteban Gomez through the entire building phase assured us that the house was coming along great and that proper measures were in effect for the completion phase as planned.

Every month went by and by and we had not heard from Mr. Gomez nor Ruben Trejo about the construction of the home so we assumed that everything was okay. Finally, we talked with Ruben Trejo on the phone and he said he and his wife stopped in Mcallen on the way to South Padre Island to stay at Mr. Gomezs beach house (March 2006) and saw that progress was being made on the house. He said that the house was built, but there was no tile, carpet, cabinetry, lighting, and many other items inside the house . From that moment on we began to panic and Mr. Trejo and Mr. Gomez said that things would still go as planned. The first part of January of 2007 came and Mr. Gomez called and said my house was finally completed and ready to be set for sale whenever we were ready to put it on the market. We went to closing on the last phase of the construction loan around April of 2007 and the loan went through as planned for the total amount of $382,500.00. Once we closed, we did not hear from Mr. Gomez after calling him and leaving numerous messages until we met with the realtor, Melva Lozano with Coldwell Bankers Borderplex in Mission, Texas

We were searching on the internet in the month of June and so happened our house came up in the for sale listings. We called Melva Lozano and inquired about the house and she said that the owner was Esteban Gomez and that he had signed a listing agreement. We told her that my husband owned the property and she checked with the appraisal district and sure enough Steve was not the owner. He had lied to Ms. Lozano and signed a bogus listing agreement. After this occurrence, my husband and I made a trip to Mcallen to meet with her and to look at the property and was distraught! There was no A/C system, hot water heater, no electrical, electricity, water, paint was not finished, the outside exterior not complete, broken windows, and missing material throughout the house. We took photographs and told the realtor that we were ripped off from the start and that Esteban Gomez had vanished. We then asked Ms. Lozano how she met such a person. She said she received a referral from a Coldwell Bankers relator in the Dallas area because he was wanting to find an investor to open a taco restaurant.

When we returned home from Mcallen, Mr. Gomez finally called us and we told him that we did not deserve to be taken advantaged of and wanted receipts and audits conducted. He declined of course and got furious because we demanded to see checks and balances to figure out where our money and material had gone. Mr. Gomez then began to tell us that there was a chandelier that had gotten stolen out of the dining room by an electrician and I confronted him about not calling the police to make a report to recover the lost. He then claimed he got to the bottom of the situation but still, Mr. Gomez refuses to make a report on stolen material which makes us wonder? Furthermore, we started to ask around the area about Mr. Gomez and found out he has had or still may have theft warrants on behalf of McCoys Lumber, Hope Lumber, and R&D Lumber. We contacted these three places and they said a lot of bad transactions has been made by Mr. Gomez. He was also the former owner of a furniture store called Philstees Furniture & Accessories Inc. and he and his wife have a connection to N&L Stone and Designs which all were sour deals.

On the other hand, Mr. Gomez has pulled the same scam on many people like Michael **** Ex-Pastor of Greenwood Baptist Church, **** ,Humble, TX 77338, Phone : ****, and a person by the first name of Bryan which is a so-called friend of a Pastor according to Ruben Trejo.According to Melva Lozano, Mr. Gomez was also building a million dollar home for a customer in the Mcallen area and they fired him because no construction was complete and accomplished. We got an agreement from Mr. Gomez that he was going to maintain the property since several items were not complete, and pay the mortgage until the house was sold. However, he has skipped out and shut his office down and no longer has an address. The last address he had was a P.O. Box which it is 5000-303 Mission, TX 78573, cell phone number (956) 445-7737. We asked him for a physical address and he said he is no longer using one and will not.Mr. Gomez also had a website that was bogus that he advertised to potential clients. The website is was developed so he can scam consumers, the website was www.allstategroupbuilders.com

He has no office anymore and uses his cell phone to screen calls and will not answer. He was listed as a member of the Mcallen Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Gomez has also done these same scams in the Houston area and him and Ruben Trejo not paying contractors on many job sites. One in particular is Yancey Concrete located in Montgomery, TX. Mrs. Yancey was a victim by these individuals in which she is negative thousands of dollars. Please Beware of Esteban "Steve" Gomez (Mcallen/Riogrande Valley Areas), and Ruben Trejo (Houston, Spring, Conroe, The Woodlands, TX Areas).
