I had been insured with Allstate since 1988, 16 years. Last spring I had financial trouble and vehicle trouble. I could not afford to get the vehicle fixed let alone pay the insurance premium (which was admittedly low). Allstate called and talked to my wife and told her that we were going to lose our insurance coverage if she didn't make a payment right then. She explained our situation to the representative and was told that we would lose the coverage regardless.

Months later down the line when we finaly got the vehicle repaired, I called and told Allstate that I needed to re-instate my policy. They told me an incredibly high amount which was 3 times higher than I was previously paying. I was told that if I couldn't make the payments, I should have put my policy into an inactive mode with my insurance and could have paid $5.00 per month to keep my policy and would not lose it. The vehicle would not be covered, but I would atleast be able to keep the policy.

Funny they mention that AFTER I lose the policy and am in a position where I must pay 3 times the regular amount. I would think that after being with a company for 16 years, they would be a little bit loyal to their customer just like the customer has always been loyal to them. I feel like they are treating me like a 16 year old who just got their license. They would have had a lifelong customer but because of greed have lost me forever.
