Complaint Review: Allstate Insurance

Allstate Insurance Unreasonable premium increase Montgomery Alabama

I had been with Allstate insurance for both automobile and homeowner's insurance for over twenty years without a significant claim.  I moved and subsequently had two breakins.  I can understand an increase in insurance rates because of that factor.  What I cannot understand is tripling my rates.

After the last breakin, I installed burglar bars and other security measures, but that made no difference to them.  Shame.  The agent I had was wonderful, but Allstate is not.  Their ad says you're in good hands, but what they don't say is that those hands are in your pockets, looking for your wallet.

For your information, I was originally told that installing the bars would keep my premium from drastically increasing.  Had I known Allstate was going to triple my rates anyway, I would not have bothered.

For your information, when I was notified of the rate increase and told there was nothing to be done about it, I dropped all of my coverage with Allstate and will never insure with them again.  Much happier, and with lower rates, with the company I am now with.

Insurance is based on Risk, and based on your report you have significantly increased the risk. With higher risk comes higher costs. Why would you think that "Burglar Bars" would reduce your premiums?  Did you call them BEFORE you had them installed or did you just "assume" it would because  you are doing "something"?  Well here is an original thought, perhaps before you do something like that you call the company BEFORE to see what they recommend. Also, the whole generic "they trippled my rate" is hillarious.  So did the tripple it from $10 to $30/month or $1000 to $3000/month?  As that is a BIG difference. There are also other factors we don't know.  Such as did the value of your new house increase over the old one.  Do you have higher coverage.  As both of these(along with many other factors) can lead to an increase of insurance.  Also, what was the dollar amount of your two claims. But in the end, if you don't like their rates why are you staying with them?  There are several other Insurance companies out there who I am sure would be just as willing to sign you up for a policy or two.
