When I had Allstate Insurance, I was offered to join the Allstate Motor Club. I had to request my membership materials multiple times, and never received them, which meant that I had no information on how to use the service.
By the time I was fed up, I switched all my coverage over to state farm. Being as I had never signed anything for the Motor Club, and never received membership materials or benefits, I did not think to cancel that membership separately from my insurance.

Now, had I not been going through a divorce, working full time, finishing my bachelor's degree and raising an infant, I may have noticed that I was still being charged much earlier. But as things will have it, I did not see that I was still having money deducted from my account every month until four or five months after the switch.
Pissed off, but not unreasonable, I called customer service for a refund.

First it took forever for them to buy that I really didn't know my membership number, because I had never received membership materials (!!!). Then they offered to refund a prorated portion of the current month only, saying that they were not affiliated with Allstate Insurance and could not have inferred that I would like my service cancelled after having cancelled my insurance policy.

I believe that given the complete lack of paperwork, evidence and services rendered, I was entitled to more of a refund, and perhaps even an apology. I will certainly never do business with them again.
