Complaint Review: Allstate Moving And Storage

On July 26, 2003 at 5:00 pm, I called Allstate Moving and Storage and spoke to Alex on a rate for moving my belongings from my home in Raleigh, North Carloina to Long Island, NY. He quoted us a price of $1350.00 for the first 3,000 pounds and .8 cents per pound therafter. We agreed that the pick up date would be on August 5, 2003.We were also promised free boxes like they advertise in the yellow pages. He took our deposit over the phone and agreed to the above terms.

On August 4, 2003 we called the moving company to confirm the time of the move and were told that they would not be picking up our items on August 5, 2003, and she did not know nor could guarentee any pick up date. Allstate Moving and Storage arrived on August 9, 2003, 4 days late. The movers arrived exhausted, and unprepared without any tools.

When we arrived in NY, they demanded that we pay $6,808.00 when it should have been $3085.00. They threated to throw our personal belonging out. After we surrended and paid without any choice, they delivered ALL of our belonging with severve damages with photos to support this. They also stole the tools they borrowed. They denied our claim for damages for no reason, after we submitted all the documentation they requested.

We feel violated and robbed and do not want this to happen to someone else. We trusted them with all of our personal possessions and then were forced to pay an ubsurd fee to regain them. We were put in an uncompromising position. This is apparently a practice that Allstate Moving and Storage is used to. This company and its employees were very unprofessional, nasty and liars. They bullied us when we were in a vulnerable position.
