Alltel ALLTEL TELLS THE TALE!!! BIG RIPOFF!!! Forrest City Arkansas
Well I purchased a smartphone from Alltel. Well after I recieved my phone their so called rule came into effect that once you got on the smart phone pack you had to stay on it. My bill is now running approx. 128 a month. I told the manager James that my bill was to high. He offered me the 69 dollar plan without taxes. I explained was still too expensive. Why should exsisting customer have to pay extra money after tthat the rule came out. James seemed so unconcerned about my problem. I had a motorla Q at first they changed it out because it didn't do what the salesperson told me it would do. So they switched it to a starmcom that phone I was unable to use as a modem. Now finally they switched it with a blackberry 8830. It is a great phone but the smart phone plans are too expensive and so are the cell phones. I had to pay extra money for the blackberry in regards to the money I had had already spent. James the manager wasn't concerned about me or my phone. He don't have to worry about about a smart phone plan with his blackberry pearl for him I sure its free a month!!!!

Hello again,
First off, we'll touch base on company benefits. In MOST cases, working for a company will come with perks such as discounted equipment, services, products and etc. Now in your career field it would be a little different.
As far as the equipment, let me put it like this. As a nurse, you must understand, that perfection does not exist. Certainly not in a hospital. Yet when a patient is admitted to a hospital, not one employee explains nosocomial infections or states that they will not have any illnesses. They aren't notified that the hallway lights flicker or how their room mate likes to snore. Why? Because nothing is guaranteed. That Alltel employee sold you the Motorola Q assuming that it will be the right working phone for you. If he/she knew that the phone was broken there is no way he/she would have sold it. Also, knowing that not every piece of equipment is perfect, Alltel does provide an equipment exchange program so that you won't be held responsible for the manufacturer's mistake. I understand that you're upset, but you have to give them some slack. Everyone makes mistakes.
All in alll, it looks like you're going to be stuck in this contract as originally stated. I hope this services somehow turns out in your favor.

It remains the truth Alltel SUCKS!!!!!!!! To John, I am a nurse I don't get discounted medical services. It seems as though this company would take more pride in their customers when we are the ones paying their salaries. Why not tell the customers the truth for instance, I am trying to sell you this peice of junk knowing that it has alot of flaws so I can get a big commission. Finally they have now stared stating that to recieve this smart phone you will be be on a smart plan. Wow took them long enough. I first recieved the motorola q which I was the sencond one to buy one in the Forrest City area, noone knew anything about the phone or the plan including the employee go figure!!!!
Couple of the smartphones had some issues after buying them and finding that out the employee stated oh yeah we have been having some problems out of them.

Hey there,
Unlike the other posts I've written, this one is all bad news.
Unfortunately under the Terms and Conditions, it does state all the information that you have posted.
Smart phones require Smart Phone Plans at all times until the contract is up and the phone is downgraded to a non smart phone. Even though your 8830 was very expensive you should understand that a large portion of it was discounted from its original price (599.99 or more) assuming that you would keep the service for 2 years.
It is very very unfortunate that the representative has not provided you with these details verbally, but then again it seems like you missed the fine print on the Terms and Conditions booklet.
Lastly, employees of Alltel do receive services for free or at a very discounted rate. But how is that a complaint? It is expected to receive benefits from a company you work for. Right?
hope this helped,

Laquintha -
Sorry you had a bad time with the rate plans. One thing you can do to lower the plan's cost is if you purchase the phone at retail price (no discount) you could put it on ANY cell phone plan. The exception in the BlackBerry devices. The reason is that RIM (Research in Motion - makers of BlackBerry) uses a technology that is contantly using data regardless if you make a data request or not. The BlackBerry plans ensure you don't have a $1000+ bill.
Like I said, if you are looking a lower cell plan, buy the smartphone at retail and you can choose whatever plan fits your budget.
Also, I am sorry for behavior of the store manager. Some of us employees genuinely do care for you (our customers).
Take care!
