In December 2005 my husband, a forced retiree (age 60 rule) went to Alltel to upgrade my cellphone. Alltel talked him into the TREO650. They assured him, after he signed a new 2 year contract, that the new phone would only cost us an extra $7.95 a month on our bill. They did not tell him that if I used any of the features on the TREO650 like the webbrowser, etc. the minutes would go over our current plan. They never suggested that we even change plans.

My husband was very proud to present me this phone for christmas. Unfortunately in trying to learn how to use the phone I dumped the hard drive twice and had to replace the phone once (it still wont turn on unless you take the battery out).

So, we got our bill in January. Our normal bill was $110. Our new bill was $650. thats our mortgage, and him not employed, too young for social security. What part of selling this type of product to a senior citizen, one who is not computer sophisticated every occurred to them?.

I certainly cannot pay the bill and had to go back to my old cell phone, which I only use in emergencies. Going to the Alltel office we were treated rudely to say the least and they just said its too bad about the bill. I think they took unfair advantage of my husband's unsophistication and I am just disgusted with their attitude.
