I bought a car in May 2014 and took out a 6 year loan. By September I paid ahead and only had 3 payment left of just over 1100 dollars. I kept getting calls that a missed payments and that I was 4 payments behind!!! I told them that I was 60 payments ahead and was going to finish paying off car on May - 5 years ahead of schedule!!! They said no that I need to make a payment! Well the car was repossessed last night and trying to get it back has been a nightmare!!!! This is the worst company I have ever dealt with!!! Can't speak English or understand math!!! I should sue!!!

My wife has an acct. with Ally and we have auto debit on the acct. When they do not debit our acct. on the due date they tack on more interest. If the due date happens to fall on a Holiday or week-end then they calculate the interest for more days in the period. Thus they make more money from this and they will not do anything to help. They say that's the way it is set up through some institute. If Ally does this check your auto debit acct and see if you are having the same problem. It's a rip off for the people that makes them RICH. You and I.

I had an auto loan with GMAC which was turned over to Ally Financial. I bought my truck in 2008. I recently paid the truck off. I was told that after paying your vehicle off and because I made my payment off of my debit card and not a cashier's check that they would hold it an extra 10 days. Well, 10 days came and went and still no title. I have been trying to obtain my title since Jan of 2015. My registration is now expired and now I have no way to work. I called Ally Financial numerous times about my title and every time you call them you get someone different on the phone. All they do is give you the run around. They promised me it would be in the mail before my registration expired. Well it's now expired. I don't know who they think they are. That title is now my property along with my truck which I paid 21,000 for. I don't owe them anything!!!

I tried to make a due date change from the 1st to the 22 of the month and was told I would have to pay a fee. I told them I did not have the fee. The women said in broken English "Don't worry. You don't have to pay that. We change date now." I soon received a letter asking did I forget my payment due on the first. I immediately call and they state "Yes you are 27 days past due" trying to over talk me. I was told the due date is now the 22 of February. I tried to get a deferred payment for that payment and they denied saying "You have to make a full payment." If I had that I would not be asking for deferred payments.

I read comments where ALLY purported to negotiate with the consumer and in the process of doing so, they repossessed the vehicle. Well, the same thing happened to me. Admittedly, I was late with payment due to loss of employment and illness. Not only did I make the negotiated payment as promised, the promised extension paperwork did not come to my residence until over two weeks later. I did not hear from anyone during the interim and usually, ALLY calls consistently when there is a problem.
Well, ALLY came and repossessed the vehicle on a Friday evening. Since you cannot get to anyone until Monday, we had to sit and wait. Monday, I got a hold of the account manager who negotiated the extension and he claimed that he called me and left messages. There were no messages or calls indicated from ALLY in my phone queue. When I tried to explain this, he proceeded to overtalk me. I then asked him what would happen if I showed him that the funds were taken out my account. He insisted that there was nothing he could do. He then called back later and asked me to fax the bank statement, which I did. He then called again to say that I needed to take it up with my bank because they could not find the money. I protested and he insisted that there was nothing he could do.
I filed a motion in the Federal Court and the Court granted me an emergency hearing, I served the papers upon them by fax, as permitted by the Court. An operations then manager called me and proceeded to tell me that they could not find my payment, and I then asked her what was the purpose of the call.. She proceeded to argue with me and overtalk me in a loud, aggressive tone. She first said that she called me and then said that no one could call me because I had a cease and desist letter. I replied that I found that interesting because notwithstanding, they did call me. Also, her statements were inconsistent. We went to Court the next day and the judge asked ALLY's attorney if they returned the vehicle. He said that ALLY agreed to release the vehicle and remove any inference of repossession from my credit.
Of course, when I called the repo man to tell them that I was coming to get my vehicle, they indicated that they had not received correspondence from ALLY. I called ALLY and the same operations manager comes on the phone and has the nerve to say that we could have negotiated the matter but I chose to take matters "that far". I reminded her that she repeatedly told me that there was nothing she could do and she was conducting herself in a manner that was going to cost the company some money. She was unprofessional and hostile and apparently they train their people to act accordingly.
Although we did not have to pay the repo fees and excess charges, ALLY was dishonest, and engaged in a deceptive practice designed to separate the unwitting consumer from their cash. They do this because most people are so thrown by the event of repossession, that they either lose the vehicle or end up paying fees. This is a permanent black eye on this company.

We have a 5th wheel financed with Ally. We contacted them in Nov. about having someone assume the payments. They indicated there would be no problem. They did send an Application for Transfer of Equity to us. We finally got someone who wanted to take up the payments and we faxed the application to them. To date their customer service people cannot tell us what is going on in the process. Each time I call I get a different answer. These people do not know what they are doing. When I ask to speak to a manager, they tell me that they cannot forward my call. No manager available and other excuses. There is no phone number to call and speak to anyone else about this matter. My husband has had a heart attack and now has been diagnosed with Cancer since we made this purchase and we need to have this matter resolved. We are under enough stress without having to deal with something like this.

I have been paying extra on my car loan and Ally would pay the interest first then any fees associated with the account before applying my payment even if I am paying more than the monthly payment. I have over $300 dollars in late charges...sometimes is $17.00 to $58.67 in late charges. I have called to resolve this issue but the company refuses to return the money or credit my account. ALLY is unfair. ALLY has refused to resolve the issue. Don't get a loan with ALLY.

I leased a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport for my wife on 2/27/2012 with a sticker price of $32,783.00. We put down $5000 as a cap reduction cost and first month payment PLUS TAX and had 36 monthly lease payments of $334.26, which we made every month without fail. Also in the contract was a "Purchase Option at End of Lease Term" (line 9 of the contract) which stated we could purchase the vehicle at the end of the lease term for $21754.00. Our mileage limit on the lease was 30,000 and we went over a bit on the mileage, so we calculated it would be better to try to sell the car rather than turn it in and pay the mileage charge plus unknown "wear and tear" charges.
We received a certified purchase offer from CarMax of $22,000 which exceeded the specified buyout amount by $246.00, which to us was a win-win since all of the online trade-in values also exceeded what our buyout amount was. We decided to accept the offer from CarMax only to learn that when they called to verify the buyout amount, they were quoted nearly $3000 more than the amount stated on our contract. When I contacted Ally for an explanation, I was told the buyout number on the contract was only if I wanted to buy the car at lease end. If a dealer bought it, they would have to pay "market value" for the vehicle.
This is an absolute scam and just another way for Ally to rip you off. I was also told I would have to pay tax again on the amount of the buyout, which amounted to an additional $1855.09. So the only way could avoid paying the mileage, wear and tear, etc. would be to buy the car from Ally at $23,603.09 (including tax) and THEN accept the $22000 offer from CarMax, essentially LOSING $1,603.00 instead of walking away with the $246.00. It is absolutely ludicrous that we can't sell the car for what we would purchase it for ourselves and the dealer would actually pay MORE for a car than I as the lessor would, even though it's a wholesale deal.

I have an auto-loan with Ally Bank, I have had my loan for 4 years now, never been late because I had automatic payment. One month, when I switched banks, the automatic payment never went thru. By the time I found out about it, I was late. So I was truly late for one month. I checked my credit report 6 months later to find out that they had reported to the credit bureau that I was late for 7 months in a row. This was not true, which I proved to them by sending them bank statements showing that my bank account was debited every month on the same day for the correct amount.
When I called customer service, EVERYONE I spoke to sounded like they were from a 3rd world country, were EXTREMELY rude and unhelpful, and ultimately denied my appeal. Keep in mind that I proved to them that they had made a mistake. Also, one month they debited my account for $800 on top of my $400/mo car payment, I called them to tell them that they were wrong and that I was only late one month, but they refused to put that $800 to the principal on my loan. They basically stole $800 because I was not late for the 7 times they told me I was.
Please keep in mind that I had printed out my bank statements for each month that they said I was late. They ultimately refused to report to the bureau that they made a mistake, now I have 7 late payments on my report that are complete b.s and it has drastically lowered my credit score (by over 150 points). They have the worst customer service, hanging up on me multiple times and being very very rude in their broken English. Please stay away from this bank or else you are sure to get b.s. fees and no help whatsoever.

Ally is claiming false property damage and threatening collection and false credit reporting if I don't pay them what they are asking for. I am planning on filing a class action lawsuit against the company for extortion if they proceed with their threat. Anyone with a valid claim please join me.

I got an email telling me that my account had been closed because it's "suspected" to be a business account. I had called a few weeks ago because my savings account had been closed and I didn't know why. In the middle of the call, the agent OUT OF THE BLUE asked me if I had a business account with them. I said yes, then said, "Actually no. I use it for personal reasons." Apparently from that statement, my account went under investigation (where they should have seen that I was using it for gas, groceries, etc.) Still I got an email today saying that the account had been closed. When I called to find out why, I'm told it's because I have a "business account." They claim to have sent me a letter warning me about this, but I never got it. But of course, that didn't matter and there's nothing I can do about it. Currently researching online bank competitors.

I had a loan with Ally in early 2010. At that time they were a great company. This is not the same company. I am guessing different ownership. Not counting cable tv it is the worst company I have done business with. In 2010 I received a payment book. Not this time. I knew right there it was trouble. I requested one to deaf ears. Never, never do direct deposit except to your personal bank. I know better so didn't. Even if it is over 1% do it if you value your credit. By the time you finish with Ally you will pay more and lose your credit score. Anyway my first payment was due on 9/02/14. I made a $14,500 payment applied to my principal. I then made my first payment on 8/19/14 for 723.67. They credited me 647.34 on my payment and applied 76.33 to my principal. I didn't know this till I got my payment history I have been requesting for months. Finally just received it after telling them I was turning them into the IRS because I got no statement of interest for 2014. It was as bad as their monthly statements.
Anyway I made my next payment on 9/05/14. A month ahead right? No so, because of their fraud of putting part of my payment into the principal I am a month behind not a month ahead. I have been doing 1000.00 on each payment and I thought a month ahead for my credit. I now have an unpaid balance of $907.95. Huh? Paying almost 300.00 a month over my payment. Cannot even to figure that one out except the 14,500 I paid on the principal made them furious and they were going to get the interest back one way or another. Somehow they must be applying interest on my principal for the life of the loan and the fraud of $76.11 in the beginning. How else can I have an unpaid balance of $907.95.
I have called about 6 times. All I get is some that cannot add or divide, honest, I tried. They just read some gibberish off of a paper that has coined replies that do not even relate relate to the question. Good old human resources or whoever made them up. It does no good to talk to these people so this is what I will do since I am in MN I will contact the MN Insurance Commissioner. Any complaint stays in a file on this company forever. Just think if everybody here sent a copy of their complaint to the MN Insurance Commissioner. Sent your paperwork with it. Do it!

I purchased my car in November 2011. My credit was not good at the time so the car dealer hooked me up with Ally Auto. I've had wonderful experiences with them up until November 2014. Because my business gets very slow over the winter from about Thanksgiving until February, I have several times delayed payment. I did the same thing again in November 2014. I did this on 24 November; on the 25th I would be 15 days late and receive a late fee. I was told by the customer service rep to pay $86 plus and the balance the following month. I went online that day and scheduled a payment for $120 deciding on my own to split the payment in half.
I have done this on several occasions before with no problem. In early December I went into the Ally Auto website and noticed I had been charged a late fee. I called Ally Auto and was told by the representative that the system couldn't handle the $120 payment. The guy told me he would have the late payment taken off.
I went into the website several days after that to check to see if the late payment was taken off. It was not. At that time I was about 31 or 32 days late. I called and spoke with another representative about the possibility of my alleged late payment being reported to the credit bureaus. She said she did not know if it had been reported or not. She said she would send a request to management to look into what happened and told me that the initial deferment request was never processed and there was no record of the request in the system. She said it would take at least a month to process. I called back in early January to find out what was going on because I had heard absolutely nothing from anyone at Ally. That representative told me that it takes at least 60 days to process and to call back in early February.
Yesterday, I received a letter from Ally showing the length of the loan and indicating that I had one late payment of 30 days. I was absolutely livid, and called customer service. I told the woman I was extremely upset that this was ruining my credit record and that I wanted this taken care of immediately and also threatened to sue Ally if it was not taken care of. After several periods of being on hold while she looked at my records, she came back and said that I would hear from somebody within 24 to 48 hours. I asked her if that was so, even though tomorrow was Sunday. And she said yes someone would call me within 24 to 48 hours. I then asked her so I can expect to hear from somebody by Monday by close of business and she said yes. We will see what happens!
I have been working so hard at getting my credit record straightened out. I had a huge problem with my mortgage company that was not my fault and had finally gotten that straightened out. And then to have this happen right after that just really infuriates me. If this is not taken care of by tomorrow evening I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

I sent a complaint to Ally in regards to being denied a checking account. Below is what I sent to them, hopefully it will help someone else if they are going to apply. - I am filing a complaint. I find it disturbing that Ally is prejudice against folks with low credit scores to open a checking account. It doesn't make sense. I was denied to open a checking account due to a low credit score. I'm not asking for a loan, or a credit card. I'm asking for a checking account to put MY money in your bank.
When I called to asked why I was denied I was given some random answer about the patriot act. Yes if you want to run my credit you can. But to denied due to a low score is not a way to do business. You're saying my money or people with low scores money is not good enough for your bank. That's a horrible way to be. But I'm glad not all banks believe as you do. And they want my business and money despite that I have a low score. They value me as a person. A human being who's had some bad breaks that have nothing to do with banking. You need to advertise that you only cater to people with high credit scores.

I sent a payment to Ally is error. They would not refund the payment and it does show up on our account. When we have called, we get different operators that give us different information each time we call. I have created a webpage entitled "consumers defrauded by Ally". Please go to that page, I believe that if we can get enough people we can get some resolution legally. They are not operating legally.

I have tried this service from Ally twice in the last year. Everything works OK until it does not and then it's difficult to get the correct information and the correct description of the problem. Ex: Sent a PopPayment to two friends and was told by email that both had been "successful" but, the people who were to receive the money did not receive it. You call Ally and ask the them what is going on and you get bizarre stories of third party companies screwing up or, incorrect verification blah blah blah.
Account information on the website does not reflect actual up to date information. For instance right now I should have $120 in my account from a PopTransfer that I made and that was returned but that money is not showing in my account and is in a kind of virtual space with no one responsible for it. Bottom line, this service is not ready for prime time...stay away.

I had an Ally loan which I admittedly fell late a payment on and even though there were a number of miscommunications that led to this I accept responsibility for. I began receiving 6-8 calls a day from an overseas collections agency claiming to be Ally financial. I was told different things depending on the particular caller. I began asking to speak with an Ally financial representative in the US. I made payment arrangements and all was well but I still kept receive these harassing calls from overseas. Many times they would tell me "I needed to listen to them", my account was in their hands now.
Ally in the US does not deny these folks work for them. I just find it ruthless that GM gets bailed out by American tax payers dollars and they have the nerve to allow this. Just read the other complaints. The defunct GMAC who I bought and paid for 5 vehicles over my years now runs under the Ally banner and we are harassed by a foreign collections agency out of control with no ethical standards. Always a good ole American Chevrolet guy but I now have a brand new Ford pickup in my driveway and hope to never again desire to buy a GM product bad enough to give into the Ally financial overseas band of thugs.

We called for a payoff amount on our vehicle, they gave us the amount. We paid that amount. 3 weeks later, when we still hadn't received the title in the mail, we called to find out why and they told us we still owed another $176 in finances charges. They couldn't tell us why or for what, just that the first payoff amount wasn't correct. The man on the phone actually asked if we financed through another company or paid it ourselves. Why would it matter? Later I called again and now the finance charges were $177.09 with interest accruing at .03 a day. I don't understand how you can call for a payoff amount and after you send it in, they can change their mind. Even the manager I spoke with could not be trusted, couldn't make up her mind why the extra finance charge. So exactly how do you pay off a new car early??

Before my next required payment due date, I changed the information on my account to reflect my new bank account as my old account only held $6. I called the next day and confirmed with their representative that the current payment would be coming from my new account. They confirmed the information. Told me my payment would come from the new account I entered. They however neglected to tell me that the payment for that month was already pending from my old account. I checked my old account a few days later to find my account negative over $300!!! I looked at my new account and Ally had taken the payment from that account as well!!!! So not only did they take a payment from an account that was not valid, they took double payment for the month and put me in the hole with my old bank adding late charges, etc.
I tried to call the Ally and discuss the situation and all they can say is basically I can request a refund from them which will take 10 days or I can dispute the payment with my bank. Either way, they will not refund the late charges my bank charged me. I've been auto paying for over a year and Ally couldn't even cough up $26 to help me out of this situation. I was very satisfied with them until this happened and now I am very dissatisfied. I will be refinancing soon to get away from every having to deal with this company again! It's a disgrace with all the money you have you couldn't accept your mess up and pay $26 to work it out. 26!!!

I have tried repeatedly to tell the people at Ally that they posted the payment I made to wrong account. They will not listen to me, and only reply that that "can't see that on my screen". Well, of course you can't see that, you are looking at MY account and not the account where you applied MY payment. They won't do anything to fix the mistake they made and are threatening to "take away" my car over this one payment error which is THEIR error.

I got my 2010 Ford Fusion in July 2014. I have never really gotten letters about payments only when they are threatening to repossess. Now my car is repossessed. Really need info in how to get my car back. This is affecting my civilian life and my military career. I find it very rude and disrespectful to come to someone's house at 4 AM to repossess their car not allowing them a chance to get their things.

Paid off the note to my car which was originally finance with GMAC then turned into Ally financial. From day one this company has been a nightmare to deal with! First of all let's be real. I live paycheck to paycheck and no payment were not always on time (as in due on Friday but paid on Monday) BUT I always added an extra 15 to 20 dollars to my payment to cover the late charge if any. Any how I finally pay off this stupid note and lo and behold ALLY claims I owe additional late charges and will be unable to release my title until paid in full. So I go down to Western Union, pay in CASH and now these sorry bastards are telling me they have to hold the title until the end of the month because WESTERN UNION sent them a check! Someone please explain to me how this is my problem? This company needs to be investigated as far as I am concerned.

This is our first experience with Ally Financial and will NO DOUBT be our last. We leased a 2011 Buick LaCrosse from a local dealership and got financing through Ally. We've never dealt with this company before but the payment was slightly lower and made it attractive. Throughout the entire lease we were never late with a single payment. When our lease was due and we turned in the vehicle into a salesperson at the dealership. We did a walk around the car and told us everything was fine.
Apparently four days later, Ally sent an independent company out to do an inspection. One week later we received a bill in the mail for damages to the car. There was a scratch under the front bumper. Under the front bumper mind you! They charged us hundred and $176 for paint and metalwork. Really! On the underside of the front bumper! They also charged us $295 dollars for a dent in a rocker panel. A dent that we would have seen at the turn in.
We have always taken good care of her leases. We have never been charged by any company ever! This is our 11th lease and we've never had a problem before. We called the company for an explanation of these charges. I spoke to young man name Greg who told me that nothing needed to be done until the car was sold. It was only suggested we pay this at this time. So we waited to hear some news. Without any updates we decided to call Ally ourselves.
We spoke to new representative named Jane, is very nasty. All we wanted was an explanation of how we are being charged these things. All she told us is that we should have read our contract when we first signed it. We also know that the car had been moved between drop-off inspection. At this point I asked to speak to her manager and she told me her name was Carol. Of course she was not in so I left her a message. I actually think it is a made up voice mailbox to direct unhappy customers to when the representatives are tired of dealing with them.
After hearing nothing from Carol, we made our third callback trying to get some sort of explanation. We talked to a lady named Sheila. She notified me that the car had already been sold 4 days after we turned it in and they had to reduce the sales price because of the damages to the car. I asked to see a copy of the bill of sale and she told me they are not obligated to share that information. What a racket! Everyone that I've talked to about this company says to me, Oh yeah, they did the same thing to me. I will never do business with this company again! The customer service is horrible. There's no explanation of charges. You will not get a call back. And if you do not pay the fee that they mysteriously come up with it will hurt your credit. If I could give them a negative rating I certainly would.

Worst customer service. The woman on the phone was not helpful nor was pleasant with me. Auto enroll/payments is a hack. Made payment ahead of time this month and then they pull out money again regardless if you already made a payment for that month. Then charged me $30.00 fee because that money was not in the bank. I am not happy with this company and I just started my auto loan. Regretting going with this bank.

I have a vehicle financed by Ally. I have only one year to pay off the loan. Two months ago, I contacted them to request -one payment deferral. The customer service rep transferred me to the appropriate person to set up the deferment and I was instructed what to pay. I went as far as calling the payment line to verify the amount before making the specific payments for the next month. The rep gave a case number and everything was set. I received a phone call today (3 months) later to inform me that the deferment was not set up completely and that I was 32 days delinquent in my payment. I was very upset and angry that I was getting a call because I have a 10 day grace period.
After requesting to speak to a manager because the representative said that I didn't want to provide her with my insurance company and policy number that I was not cooperating and therefore the deferment could not be granted. This is simply unacceptable. I asked the manager what the information was going to use for and he just said that it was a part of the process. I did not feel comfortable giving out that information so I asked to just cancel the request for the deferment and I will pay and catch up the account. When you need help from Ally, don't ask, you have to give explanations and account information to get approval for a deferment. I just needed one month to get my finances back on track. Where is good customer service when you need it?
