Ally Financial Took a Month's Payment for 1 Day of Possession Louisville KY
We recently leased an automobile and the finance company we used was Ally Financial. I made my payments automatically from my checking account each month. The payment fell due on the 30th of each month and I paid ahead by a couple of days just so that we would never be hit with a late fee. On July 30th, I paid a full month for the lease of my car. On July 31st, we turned in the lease early to our car dealer and traded it for another vehicle. I believed that since we had the car one day, we should not have to pay a full month's payment. I called Ally and was told that they would be keeping the entire payment. The person was heavily accented and difficult to understand. I asked to speak with her supervisor since I thought that perhaps the trouble was in the language difficulty we were having. I'm not truly convinced that I was actually given to another person since the accent was the same but it's possible if the service department is in another country. After putting me on hold I was told that once the payment "matures" or becomes due, it doesn't matter if you keep the car or not, they keep the money. Then to add insult to injury I got a letter from them a month later chewing me out for cancelling insurance on the vehicle and telling me that I had to get insurance or they would charge me for it. After holding a long time, the insurance thing was cleared up but I'm fuming about the payment issue.
