I did business with Alpha Material Handling on two separate occasions.  Both times was when the small company that I work for was in need of some particular products.  I will not disclose the products that were needed due to the fact that I am in fear of my identity being recognized.  The first several companies that I spoke with would not sell me the product due to the fact that my company that I work for was planning to utilize the equipment rather than sell it. 

Once I contacted Alpha Material Handling, Brent spoke to me as if I were a child or a piece of trash.  I had never felt so disrespected in my life.  He had the nerve to call me a slob when he visited my facility.  When we spoke, he even recommended that I read a book called “How Mexicans have Ruined America”.  I guess he did not realize that my last name was of Hispanic descent.  Then, once everything was said and done, our equipment was delivered; I had to call the manufacturer for some issues. 

It was them that I was informed that the company that Alpha Material Handling had purchases the equipment from that I did not have to go through a second party.  I could have purchased the equipment directly from the manufacturer at about 30% less.  So, not only did Alpha Material Handling lie to me, they also marked up the product by 30%.  After further research, I found out that they used the second to cheapest freight company and then charged me the prices of the second most expensive freight company.  Doesn’t anyone know that you get what you pay for? 

I paid for well-dressed delivery drivers who have good hygiene and have passed back ground checks and what I got was a toothless gang banger who smelled of three day old beer spills and ash trays.  It is needless to say.  Before you or your company purchase any material handling equipment from Alpha Material Handling, be sure to take the time to do the research.  Make sure that the company that they are purchasing the equipment from does not sell direct.  Make sure that the prices match up.  Do your comparison shopping before purchasing equipment.  Either send your own freight truck or request a specific company and price.

Whomever shared their experience, I regret that you feel this way about our company. I'd like to first adress the delivery personnel you described as a "toothless gangbanger who smelled of three day old beer and ash trays". Our company does not have delivery drivers, rather we hire local delivery services and LTL companies to make deliveries of the goods we sell, provided they can't ship UPS or FedEx Ground. Your claim is the first scenario I've heard of and if I had more information I could narrow down whether or not I can use another service in the future. It certainly is not my intention for our customers to encounter such an experience.

As for the conduct of our sales reps, it would be a first time in the eight years the company has been in existence that I've had a complaint such as yours. Brent in particular is the kind of sales rep who choses to educate the end user so they are able to make an informed decision. This can take a little more time but our end goal is to build a relationship based on sound advice. We want our customers to feel satisfied with their purchase; that they got the best solution at a fair price.  If this intimidated you or made you feel inferior, I assure you that was not the intent. I don't believe that he nor any of our reps would tell the customer that their facility was a mess or call anyone a slob. That is just childish and well beneath the level in which we operate.

With regard to the claim that we are racist, I don't even know what to say to that. I don't know a single person who would use that term when describing us. The only prejudice that we could accurately be accussed of is being in distain towards those who refuse to work and support their family when they are well and able. The last time I checked that is not limited to any race, creed or ethinic background.  By the way, you described the delivery driver as a 'toothless gangbanger'...who is racist?

When reading your claim of dishonesty I am puzzled by a few things: #1) do you expect us to sell product at cost and not profit? Isn't making a profit the purpose of being in business? #2) several of the lines we represent will in fact sell to the public and never have we said otherwise. Those that do however, do so at 'list price'. We as a distributor are given a discount and even when we mark it up, the majority of the time we are at or below 'list price'. We do sell to the end user as well as those who are going to resell products. Some of our lines are closed, meaning if you're in DFW and you want that product you will have to buy it through us. Even in those cases, our mark up is not the 30% you claim. We'd never be price competitive if we marked everything up that much. #3) regarding the freight costs, those are ever changing as they flucuate daily based on gas prices. We shop rates with numerous carriers and make our decision based on price as well as our past experience with a carrier regarding transit times and freight damage. Our end goal is to get the product from the manufacturer to the customer in a timely fashon, without damage and for a fair price.

I find it intersting that you say you contacted two other companies who wouldn't sell to you because you were the end user. That raises some questions in my mind because everything that we sell can either be resold or used by the purchaser. I don't know of any company who will ONLY sell for resale. My suspicion is there are other factors which have been conveniently left out of your claims. 

While not everyone on the planet gets along with every other person on the planet, we strive to exceed our customers expectations. Our success is built on that, and the testimonials on our website represent only a few of our many satisfied customers.
