 I had purchase a very expensive Alpine Blackbird series Navigation system back in 2009 with a purchase price of over $1,000 dollars. The system wored well over 1 year. After 1 year and a half the navigation system would freeze and would not direct me to the correct address and would not function properly. I had called Alpine Electronics in 2010 and had asked for technical support or to get a refund back for the system. They had advised me to send the navigation system to their corporate location in Torrance, CA. After 2 months of waiting for my system to get repaired and sent back, I called Alpine for status or ETA of my navigation system, and they told me that my navigation system was junk and that they will be providing me with a new unit and plus accessories. I was a happy camper knowing I was getting a new unit plus additional accessories that I did not have or bought as they are expensive as well. I did get the new unit with accessories as promised. Now 2013 I have issues with the unit as it will not let me locate addresses in california that were built from 2013 - 2005. I have updated the unit. I called Alpine today 10/10/2013 and the supervisor told me that he was sorry for the unit not being to locate addresses from those years and that he recommended me to buy another navigation system from another manufacturer Tom Tom and Garmin. He also told me that he can not refund me the money back, he will not replace the unit, and that there are no more updated available for the navigation system. I could not belive that an alpine supervisor would tell me that. So I have a broken and expensive unit that is no longer good for me. Do not buy from Alpine.
