Alta Aspen Grove Horrendously Mismanaged, Horribly Overpriced Littleton, Colorado
Alta Aspen Grove had potential. When it was being developed, there was a lot to like about it. Great staff, secure grounds, great neighbors. They did everything to make this community feel like a home.
Unfortunately, this has changed over the last several months. With Jeremy, the only competent leasing person, no longer at the community, their number one priority is only getting people in the door. After that, they no longer care about your presence and your money.
A short list of problems about the community:
- frequently misplaced packages
- mistakes in billing/charges erroneously added to your monthly bill
- during the snow season, they do nothing to ensure the walkways and driveways are safe.
- gates that never close
- continuous break-ins and vandalism (the break-ins and vandalism have nothing to do with the security gates not being closed, management will assure you, yet it is amusing how the amount of crime has risen since their new policy of never closing the gates)
- a rude Hispanic girl in the leasing office who clearly does not know what she is doing. She turned away another set of residents when she was speaking with my wife and I, thinking we were potential new lessees. She then forgot the name of the community when she picked up the phone. Isn't knowing where you work part of your job?
A MAJOR problem is the leasing process the community has. The community is horribly overpriced and far above the market rents. For example, a 750 sq. ft. one bedroom is $1385. Add an attached garage (yes, the attached garage is NOT included in the base rent) for an additional $100. "Premium" linoleum floors are an additional $50. And mandatory garbage pick up is an additional $30/month. Of course, you don't find any of this out until AFTER you've already submitted an application and are in the process of signing the lease. The fact that they do not reveal the true pricing of the unit you are interested in may be considered a violation of Fair Housing, and may be a crime considering the bait-and-switch nature of the lease process.
The amount of crime, from robberies to car thieves to vandalism and break-ins, are far too high for a community that markets itself as a "luxury" apartment.
Management is exceedingly incompetent, filled with nothing but excuses and lies, and I get the feeling Tom is well over his head.
My advice: DO NOT RENT HERE. Your belongings, your money, and your sanity are far more valuable than to be wasted here.

DO NOT RENT HERE!
http://www.yelp.com/biz/alta-aspen-grove-littleton (make sure to go through the filtered reviews!)
http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/CO-Littleton-Alta-Aspen-Grove.html (management posted some fake positive reviews here to boost the score)

And be careful of "positive" reviews that sound more like marketing pitches. Tom is well aware his job is on the line so he is doing his best to hide all the bad reviews on the internet.
