I got my first car, a 91 Ford Tempo from Altavista motors im 1999. I paid 6,000 for it. I test drove it and it was fine, I signed all the papers. When i went to go take it off the lot, It wouldnt start!

The dealer had to jump start the car! I should have taken it back but it was my first car, and was basiclly clueless. I got it home, finally, and it wouldnt start again! i called them and they got a tow truck and brought it back to their shop.

During my 30 day warranty, it was in and out of the shop, it would stall out on me at stop lights, wouldnt start in the cold or rain etc... They told me i had to pay half cause most of the repairs were not covered under the Warranty. Well, the car only lasted me about 9 months.

I ended up trading it in for another one of their cars. A 97 Dodge Stratus. I thought it would be better, but its not. They would not cooperate with the repaires. I am paying 8,000 for it and I only had it for 3 months. The ball joints are bad, struts, brakes, you name it.

Chryster fixed it for free.... supposedly. It is still a mess. the whole front end is messed up and they refuse to fix it. I have to pay at least $800 for the repaires. I have then later heard horror stories from other customers. They slap high price tags on cars that are not worth a dime.

What we want to let you and all our other readers know is that this is not illegal. The case law is on your side. The Constitution gives you the right to express your opinion under the 1st ammendment.

These threats are nothing more than typical scare tactics. I'll bet they made you think that you would lose everything, and I ask you...what do you have to lose? Whatever it is, they have a lot more to lose. They already took your money and reniged on their responsibility to your car. It would make them look ridiculous in court. They would also have to prove you acted maliciously. The important thing to remember is that the truth is the perfect defense to their accusations. What this means is that if Altavista motors sues you they are then put in the position of proving their innocence, and who knows an innocent car dealer? The presumption is that they are all crooks. That is their reputation. That is a pretty big thing to overcome.

Take a look at these scary pictures. Would you do business with these hooligans?

Below is their web address to their website:

Look at the pictures of these guys!

They will likely not sue. This is just hot air. The reason they are making such a big fuss is that their "blue oval" certification is being threatened. What that means is that a bad comment from you has negated their positive comments that they have likely submitted on your behalf. You probably didn't know that many of these dealers fill out and mail in your comment cards to Ford. That way they can control what is said about them. Just remember that your greatest weapon is the damage to their reputation with corporate Ford.

altavista motors uses scare tactics .. what do I do?

When i said "i take back about fixing my car" i meant yes they fixed the brakes, and the struts. I am still having problems with my car. It stalls out on rainy and cold weather, the drivers side window gets stuck and i am still hearing a "clunking noise" since i have gotten the car.

I have tried to have my statement deleted but i can only update it. I am being accused of slander for making false statements. These statements are not false. I feel it it unfair that a consumer has no rights to their opinion.

I have bought two cars and both of them had problems. What am i supossed to do? just sit back and let my second car break down on me? I did this because i felt i was being ripped off. I am sure that they were not aware of the problems with either car. But I dont just make false statements for no reason.

I gave Altavista motors a second chance with another car, cause i figured i just had "bad luck" with the first one. I didnt have to get another car from them. But now my second one is having problems and its very fustrating that i put all my money into these cars and have to spend more money fixing them.

I dont feel that i should be accused of slander when these statements are not false. I was not aware of what the term "slander" was,and i do not know much about these laws. i was just trying to state my rights as a citizen and consumer.

I had no idea this to go into some law suit. I dont know what else to do. I just dont think its right that a consumer cannot express his/her opinions. I am sorry for whatever damage i caused Altavista Motors.
