This Company has harassed me for over a month. They have not produced a shred of documentation to back up their claim that I owe Greentree $50,000. Greentree accepted a short sale on a property that they over valued (their appraisal not mine) and I have a mortgage payoff (mortgage cancellation filed in court) and now 4 years later they are claiming I owe this difference which I do not. They call and harass and do not send any documentation via mail. They bully people into paying stuff they have been absolved from by the courts without legal substantiation. Do not yield to their bully behavior. If an attorney reads this and wants to sue fro unfair dept collection practices email me.

Sorry for your misfortunes

Dear Harassed,

I apologize for your misfortunes and your misunderstanding of how the financial lending system works. When you buy something on credit and you sign a contract promising to pay the creditor back this is what you should do. Anytime there is collateral and a consumer defaults on their payment any lender has the right to reposses and re-sale the property. If the sale is lower than what your payoff is then you (the consumer) is responsible for the deficiency amount. There is no confusion here and its common sense. Had you purchased the unit yourself (cash) would you have walked away and or sold for a large loss? There are two sides to everything and I hope I have educated you a bit on how this works and how it will work for you in the future. Its not you that took the bulk loss, its the bank that lost and its simply not fair. Lets be a little more considerate when things like this happen and work together to resolve and do the right thing if possible. Not every consumer has the ability to pay their debts due to life changing circumstances. When this happenes its understandable. When a consumer can pay and doesnt then its not fair and the economy suffers and the lenders suffer. I hope your situation has improved and that your doing well. If any questions feel free to contact me at 619-469-6194 ext 123..Jeff    In closing be very careful when accusing agencis/lenders of harassment if it really didnt happen. Most agencies will counter file against those who make such false allegations. I have looked at this very carefully and have found no wrong doing and no F.D.C.P.A violations.
