After switching to Altrua from Blue Cross with the understanding that I had equal to or better coverage from all I read and was promised from my Altrua representative, with my first and only claim for my daughter, I found this was woefully untrue. My daughter had chronic fatigue syndrome and was taken to the hospital for review to make sure she was ok. She ended up being ok with some rest, but the claim was COMPLETELY denied for every service provided. I understand that this in not a fully qualified plan, but I did not know that certain classifications would not warrant any support or coverage based upon subjective responses built around the rejection of claims. They claimed it was a mental health issue whihc is not covered at all (READ THE FINE PRINT) Fully qualified plans cover things like mental health, but altruistic ministries DO NOT! Even in the event its not a mental health case, you ca nstill be denied if they feel like it is. I was told over and over again it is just "their guidelines". How convenient! My guideleins for coverage are to be covered, therefore, DO NOT GO WITH A FALSE MINISTRY claing to help the world. They have losser subjective denial policies than the corprate insurance monoliths. Finding out after thousands sent to Altrua that I have no coverage for my daughter/senior in high school is disgusting by any standard. They post stories about cancer survivors whihc is great publcity, but that won't help you in a crisis. www.altrua-sucks.com
