On or about the end of December, 2002, we received a bill from alyon tech. for $93.00 for 2-3 minutes of viewing xrated materials on the internet.

I wrote them back (since their customer service # only offered a recorded message & hung up) and explained that there was a mistake. They wrote me back and suggested I pay or they would "pursue the amount owed by all means legal and proper".

What and how do I protect myself from these vultures? I'll not pay a dime on an account I did not authorize or sign for.

Just like any other victims, very anxious to know the latest update about alyon. Thanks for the advice on the credit report. However, do we have any updates from ifccfbi? If the company started June 2002? What Gov't agency gave them permission to opearte? If given permission, considering the bulk of complaints, is't that gov't agency be liable to review or revoke such a permit

Someone mentioned that this would be "questionable" on their credit and if it gave them a bad report, they would go to another lender.

This co. is scum and I feel for all of you who got ripped off. I check my computer every day for all those files and minidialers just to be sure. But as to the credit, with or without a social security number, whether right or wrong, they can and probably will report it to the credit bureaus. Until a consumer disputes the credit report, that mark will stay there. And lenders will look at it as a bad mark and most likely will not believe you or the printouts of reports tha you try and show them. I was a loan officer for years.

You and I know the story. But to a lender who is looking at your credit report, it is a bad rating. Plain and simple. You can try and explain but most lenders will think you are just trying to justify not paying. Sure, if that is the ONLY bad mark it won't mean too much. But it will mean something.

And going to another lender "because they are competitive" will not work. Sure there is competition. But they compete for the superior credit borrowers, not the late ones. Again, if this is your only bad mark, it may or may not affect their decision. But it certainly isn't going to make you more desirable in any lender's eyes no matter how much they need the business.

The only way to get away from it to dispute it with the credit bureaus - all 3 of them. You must write and dispute it and put the burden of proof on the creditor (Alyon). They then have to provide proof that their report is justified. If they can't or won't, the bureaus have to by law remove the negative reporting. But be prepared to have your proof ready for when Alyon says you "used their services." That is the only way to get it off your report and not have it affect your credibility.

Sorry for the bad news, but please don't just think that "just because it's wrong I will tell the lender what happened or I will go to another bank." They won't care and have heard "all the stories" before.

Jackie,

I've spent a ton of time and some money researching and stewing over this the past couple months. But it really comes down to this:

THEY HAVE NO MEANS -- legal OR proper -- to make me pay for something that I did not request, acknowledge, or use... period.

We're fortunate that Ed and his Rip-off Report crew make this site available. As long as it's online, I figure I have proof enough for any reasonably minded lender, or whomever I might need to convince in the future that this was all a (censored). I would NOT have that proof without this website. To me, bad marks on a credit record from this are questionable, but I'm not an expert in that area. Regardless, lending is a competitive market. If I can reasonably prove that this was a (censored) and a future lender won't listen, I'll find a different lender.

It might be wise to print and save pages from this archive for future reference, if needed.

If you feel you've benefited from this site (most of us have) it wouldn't hurt to consider making a small donation to badbusinessbureau.com so Ed can keep the lights turned on for us, and others who will undoubtedly need this place in the future.

Do file a report with the FTC right away; something will eventually be done. It's in the proper channels at the FTC now. www.ftc.gov

Don't get me wrong -- I'm still plenty pissed. Just don't let them waltz in and terrorize your life.

Thanks badbusinessbureau.com! The check's in the mail.
