Judge temporarily halts N.J. Internet company's W.Va. operations

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- A New Jersey company that provides billing and collection services for pornographic Internet sites has been temporarily blocked from operating in West Virginia, Attorney General Darrell McGraw said Monday.

Kanawha County Circuit Judge Charles King issued a preliminary injunction against Alyon Technologies Inc. last week barring the company from doing business in West Virginia, said McGraw, whose office sued Alyon in May.

The injunction will remain in effect until the attorney general's lawsuit is resolved.

The lawsuit alleged that Alyon, based in Secaucus, N.J., attempted to collect money from West Virginians who did not use the Internet sites' services, including some people who don't own computers.

The lawsuit also alleged that Alyon used deceptive advertising targeting adolescent males by saying no credit card is needed to gain access to the sites.

ATTORNEY GENERAL DARRELL V. McGRAW, JR.,

SECURED A PRELIMINARY INJUNCTION AGAINST

ALYON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.,

A PURVEYOR OF INTERNET PORNOGRAPHY

Attorney General Darrell V. McGraw, Jr. announced that he has obtained an injunction against Alyon Technologies, Inc. ("Alyon") headquartered in Secaucus, New Jersey, barring the company from doing business in the State of West Virginia until further order of the Circuit Court of Kanawha County.

Last month, Attorney General McGraw filed suit against Alyon, seeking to shut down the company's pornography related Internet business. McGraw's suit alleged that Alyon barraged West Virginians with false billing statements purporting to charge consumers for access to pornographic websites on the Internet. Some of the consumers did not even own computers and thus could never have accessed the Internet. Attorney General McGraw's complaint also alleged that Alyon used deceptive advertising to lure adolescent males onto the adult website by advertising that no credit card was needed to gain access to the websites.

The Attorney General's lawsuit asked for a preliminary injunction, barring the company from further business activity in West Virginia until the case is resolved. On Thursday, Alyon agreed to a court order requiring the company to block its Internet traffic from reaching West Virginia and to stop all billing and collection activity in West Virginia until further order of the Court. The case is before Kanawha County Circuit Judge Charles King.

If you believe you have been a victim of Alyon's billing practices, contact Attorney General McGraw's consumer hotline at 1-800-368-8808 or by downloading a complaint form from this site. (Complaint Form)

I thought things moved slow down ther in W.VA. lol.

Evidently they are on the ball on this one.

If you can please post a URL thread pertaining to the court order barring Alyon from doing business in W. Va.

This way all ppl. that were (censored) and are are lucky enough to view ROR can email or mail this report to their respective Attorney Generals.

They also need to freeze this seehag's assets.

I'm sure they all the (censored) have a one way ticket to another country and the wire transfers ready to go.

There will Be More Injunctions ..20 Attorney Generals AND the FTC cordinating lawsuits against ONE company. That is a huge legal attack.

Robin, you are absolutley correct. The Wheels of justice are turning VERY slowly for Alyon. I assume that Alyon has tried to rip off thousands of people and their illegal take would be in the millions. I have never known of 20 Attorney Generals AND the FTC cordinating lawsuits against ONE company. That is a huge legal attack.

You will see more injunctions, than the actual court cases. Recently the government closed down another pornsite that asked for credit card infomation to allegedly use only to determine if you were a minor. That is standard proceedure in that industry, if you are a kid you probably will not have a card. But this crime-family related site than took the credit card information and used it to rip off off consumers for millions of dollars. The Government got them, the (censored) will be spending time in jail. But it took 2 !/2 years. And Alyon seems a bigger (censored).

So it will take time. The AGs and The FTC read this site, I know that. Every new complaint wil be shown to the judges involved in the coming court decisions.

Trust your government on this one. But keep up the pressure.

Now if the REST of the AGs (and the FTC) would wake up and smell the coffee....

Allan,

I am truly amazed that this post sat here with no comment, so I am going to point out the obvious...there should be an immediate suspension of every billing, every lawsuit filed (especially the one against this site!), and every action period by this company or anyone involved with this company by every Attorney General involved, as well as the FTC!

As near as I can tell, Alyon changed the number that its renegade dialler causes the computer to dial and is right back in business. HOW ABSOLUTELY ABSURD!!!! The RORs are on the increase again against this company because they have found a way to get around the proceedings against them.

I have sent a complaint to the FTC already asking for immediate suspension of ALL activities by this company at least until Alyon can prove itself honest (that will never happen!) I am really hopping mad that this dishonest bunch of (censored) is attempting to squash my right (and yours) to free speech by assaulting the ROR!

In the never-ending battle of consumer against an increasingly dishonest Corporate America, KNOWLEDGE is the best weapon. Forewarned is forearmed. This is the only site I know of that addresses issues with a wide variety of companies.

There are many forums for victims of one company, but generally consumers find them after the fact. I prefer to know AHEAD of time.

I am not a direct victim of Alyon; when I saw the increasing number of reports against Alyon early on, I became extremely careful in my browsing habits. I feel that this may have helped me avoid the (censored) in the first place (Thanks again, ROR!)

If this action can be taken by one state, it can be taken by all states involved in this suit. Mike Beebe's (AR AG, also involved in this suit)office will receive an email from me to that effect this afternoon!

We will all become indirect victims of these (censored) if they manage to pull off legal actions against this site. I do not like criminals to use my own justice system against me and all Americans. I have had enough of it!

So, lets wake 'em up and force them to smell the coffee if that is what it takes. Alyon is still smiling all the way to the bank and it is wrong! Send those complaints all you victims; now even the NONvictims can join in. Contact your AG if your state is involved; if not, demand that your AG becomes involved. This insanity has to stop somewhere; the buck stops here!
