I am apparently not alone in this situation. I am embarassed because I feel I am pretty alert to (censored) and have a fairly good computer/internet background. I got a bill for $156.48 for 31 minutes of use. Interesting since it was on my home number and I was working at the time and no one else was at home.

I have a popup blocker but apparently I had disabled it while I was surfing and snagged this insidious little download. I do recall a period when I got a bunch of pop ups but thought I had deleted them all. I do not recall Alyon being one of them.

Is it possible to have received this download but then not had the dialer activate until later? I guess I'm not sure how this thing actually works.

I have taken the advice of many of the contributors and written my letter to them within the allotted time frame of 30 days. I am also sending letters to my phone carriers. I am wondering if I should inform Earthlink as well? Bottom line is that I am not going to pay this but I still wonder about collection agencies and my credit.

I would love to hear from someone who actually has solid info on this and could advise all of us.
