I had accessed the internet using a broadband connection that was relatively new for us. While doing some searching, some pop-ups came up and after several attempts, I thought I got rid of them.

Unknown to me (because I never thought to disconnect the phone line) I was dialed in to a phone number (201)553-4711 and had absolutely no idea this happened. Fortunately, I must have logged off soon after because I was only billed for 9 minutes. I never even thought this could be done.
