Contracted with Andrew Smith in January 2019 to tear down old shed and build newer 200 square foot shed. Work supposedly was completed in September of 2019, but I still am unable to use it. He was supposed to have placed insulation into the ceiling, did not happen. He was supposed to have installed lock and door knob into door, didn't happen.

The plywood that he used on the inside of the shed was untreated and installed sloppily, some of it was going the wrong way and he tried piecing it together. When I asked him why one of the corners was bent, he blamed it on the paint. The paint he used didn't have primer in it and two coats of paint didn't cover the plywood well enough.

The carpet was glued to the floor and it has wrinkles in it and could be considered a trip or fall hazard. In some places toward the ceiling you could look up and you would see daylight. On the back of the shed the vinyl siding doesn't go all the way up to the top. He didn't trim it out on the outside of the building so it would look seamless and professional. I have also had problems with the soffits on the outside of the shed flopping and flapping around in the wind, I think he either cut them too short or didn't get wide enough ones to fit snuggly. I fear that unwanted animals could use those as access points to the building.

He was supposed to have cut seams into the concrete so it wouldn't break somewhere where it shouldn't in the future. He stated that he would be back to take care of that plus lay grass seed down with a straw covering. That didn't happen either and now there are weeds growing in the dirt.

All I ever heard from him were excuses and then promises as to why he couldn't show up to work. He assumed incorrectly that the location of the previous shed would be okay for the new shed and the project was put on hold for a month because we had to get a zoning variance permit as the shed was non compliant, and then I found out he had not pulled a permit for the building either and he was responsible as the contractor for doing that.

At this point it is late November and I still don't have a working shed and I have had to hire another contractor to correct the problems and to try and finish the job before Christmas, so this is going to set me back another $3500 and this is money I just cannot afford right now.
