Approximately one week before leaving the watch with him, giving him credit for repairing a ring (I asked him to repair a crack in the band of a ring which he claimed to be capable and he charged $45. One month later the ring is cracked again in the same place) I brought a watch to him which was running but had stopped from non-use. He told me it needed cleaning and a new battery which I had already bought from him. I stopped by to pick it up a few days later but no-one answered the bell (during business hours). The next day I went in and learned to my surprise the charge was $120. I didn't even get a call before the work was performed because I would not have authorized it. I did not pay and he has not returned the watch. Not too different from extortion really since the charge is excessive.
