I ran into an ex-employee from Amazon Animal Hospital this past weekend whom had left there awhile ago and thought a bit in whether or not I would report what he/she told me about this place but my gut told me to do so being as I think what they are doing is so wrong that it cannot go without something being said. I am also going to go to the state if I need to.

In essence, these poor employees are having to rip off most of the clients at this hospital in order to keep their jobs like he/she did. I will explain further. First and foremost, the pets are not in total harm, but the client's wallets are. They are in deep, deep harm, and have been so for many years.

In this day and age you would think that most busineses would lend a helping hand to the economy. Sure they may take in the average stray or help a client with payment plans, however, for the most part, it is drilled into the employees heads that whenever a new client walks into the door, they are to look at the car the client drives, their jewelry, job, etc. and base their treatment upon that.

On top of that, there are clients that are labeled "GOLD clients". These clients are labeled this in their computer. This means the Techs have the freedom to do everything and anything they want to do as far as treatment is concerned without even asking the client if they want to do so.

Many of the things they are doing DO NOT need to be done. They also mark up the prices because these clients make more money than the average person, therefore they feel as though they can charge them more. These GOLD clients are also considered GOLD because Dr. Carvajal gets annoyed when most clients ask questions or deny treatment because they may have certain meds at home that were requested so why spend the extra money? He feels as though the client should keep their mouth shut and do exactly as told. If they do this, they are a GOLD client. Ask questions and you will be talked about and laughed at.

For the average Joe, they get a discount on certain services and when they decline treatment due to the fact that their prices are outrageous, they get treated poorly by the office manager who is Dr. Carvajal's son. It is sad. The employees are told to do whatever it takes to get people in the door. Once they get in the door and if they do not ask for an estimate than they are told to just put on their invoice whatever you need to without asking the client beforehand. Keep their pet captive if needed??? I am sure they would do this. This is ridiculous! This sounds like a car mechanic!

This doctor is so demeaning to his clients and although there are probably some people out there that love him because he talks so much because he can't stay busy, i am sure this report will open up some minds of those that thought they were being scammed and just did not have the proof. This ex-employee even knows the price of a euthanasia. (They know a lot of prices but I don't have the specifics and do not want to state anything incorrectly but you would GASP at the mark up). They charge triple the amount of what there cost is! FOR AN EUTHANASIA! Have a heart!

Yes, businesses need a mark up but to triple their cost sometimes quadruple their medication costs!!! Wow! This ex told me they don't even tell you about price matching of course. They never told me. Some of you may think this ex-employee left on bad terms and they did not. To prove so, ask Amazon if you are a GOLD client and if you are, ask what that means. I am sure the Office Manager will have a script to tell the receptionist once hearing about this.

They have been through so many employees for those of you that have been there for years oughta know. Now you can see why. If you were to question their so called ethics, you would or will be fired. In this persons case this was something different. This person is so scared of these people they are afraid to come out. This Office Manager has been known to make threats.


This place is a complete scam. It won't be long before they shut down I am sure. I have read other remarks on this site about Amazon and am sure I will read more. I am sure the Office Manager will have a good rebuttle but in the meantime please call the office and find out what category you are in. Maybe have a friend go in without telling them they know you to see if their cost is similar to yours? Best of luck. I know I will no longer be going there. And yes, I was a GOLD client. I feel like a sucker. I knew something was going on when all of a sudden things were getting tacked on to my bill that i never had on there before for the same kind of problem with my pet. I will be telling everyone I know about them. Everyone.

Speak out if you can. In this day and age you cannot "afford" to do so. Some may say, shame on you for not questioning your bill, but how many of us question what OUR doctors tell us what needs to be done when we are sick? Our animals cannot talk. We are their only true sole voices. Obviously not this Vet's. Speak out. Your pets need you to.

FALSE RIP OFF-REPORT BY A DISGRUNTLED EX EMPLOYEE! NOT TRUE IN THE LEAST, READ BELOW!

To whom it may concern:

First off don't believe for a second that this is or ever was an ex "gold" client of ours, this is an ex employee that was fired by me.

This person would have you believe that he or she ran into our so called "ex employee" and that this ex-employee divulged all this brutally false "inside information" to a stranger......give me a break, that is the irresponsibility of this website Rip-off Reports, they will print any material at any time without doing anything to research the claims validity!
Thank goodness i am able to at least put my rebuttal in, we'll see if they actually publish it?

The malicious lies that this person has told in their email go above and beyond anything i thought was humanly possible. Where to begin......

First off we do have, and have always had a group of clients that are deemed STAR OR GOLD STAR CLIENTS, these are for example clients that have no problem taking our veterinarians advise on preventative care for their animals, for example they come in for their routine annual visit and Dr. Carvajal says Molly needs a Dental Scaling, these clients make the appointment for the Dental Scaling right then and there, what else qualifies a client as a "Gold Star Client", these are individuals who go above and beyond being good pet owners, clients who pride themselves on doing the very best for their animals!

The lies uttered by this beast of a person, equates GOLD STAR CLIENT with the amount of money they have or make is totally and unbelievably FALSE! This person also mentions that we add charges to peoples bills simply because they are GOLD STAR CLIENTS, how ridiculous is that, we run a very very comprehensive protocol when it comes to our invoicing and charging our clients, we DO NOT DO ANYTHING without written consent and authorization from our clients, we do not perform anything that is not deemed necessary by our veterinarians, we do not price gauge, we will absolutely 100% price match medications off the internet (this person claims we have not divulged this information). CHECK YOUR FACTS!!!

Also regarding this "gold" or "star" status for our clients, we never treat any of our clients any differently weather they are Gold or not, we offer everyone the very best medicine that we can provide.
And we do understand that there is a limit to what people can and cannot afford, this is precisely why we do have payment plans available and this is why we do have different treatment plans available to all of our clients, gold or not!!!!

Another wonderful quote from this person was "First and Foremost the pets are not in total harm" you would have to be insane to write this.....or disgruntled because you are being let go for repeated violations of our employee policies, guidelines and rules!!

We have been in practice for over 22 years, we pride ourselves on practicing the highest quality medicine and have won awards for doing so, not only do we save animals lives on a daily basis but we do so with the highest moral and ethical standards, the fact that this person has slandered our good name in this website is not only painful to view but gutless and highly malicious.

You have to think, what could we possibly have done to a "Gold Client" to have them write such brutal lies about us......well guess what, we would never in a million years treat ANY clients in the way they have described.

And YES, there have been 2 other reports made against us in the past on Rip Off Reports, one was the "Amazon Almost Killed our dog", which would have you believe that we really did almost kill their dogs, but there is a lot to that story and i did not find it until about 1 year after it was published and therefore i could not do a rebuttal.
The 2nd one i did not even need to rebuttal as it was so ridiculous what this lady was stating that others came to our rescue and put her in her place for us.

Listen at the end of the day i will not fight this website or the internet, this is not my job, my job as the practice manager (and yes the son of Dr. Carvajal, one of the best veterinarians and surgeons in the Tampa Bay area) of the Amazon Animal Hospital is to make sure that our clients and their animals receive the highest quality medicine we can provide, we have been doing this for 20+ years and will continue to do so for a long time to come.

Now a days people can print just about anything they want on websites like this if they are not content with the services performed or the charges they have received, and we cannot please everyone every single time, no one can......but we will continue to try and make our hospital they very best in the Tampa Bay Area.
