AMAZON.COM - THE WORST CREDIT CARD POLICY - BEWARE Somerdale New Jersey

I'm sharing my experience with Amazon.Com regarding their credit cards.

I cancelled my Amazon.com credit card, however, Amazon.com has no record of it. Whoever I was speaking with apparently did not execute my cancellation instructions.

When I eventually purchased something from the amazon.com web site, I used One-Click. Believing I had my other credit card still active as primary since canceling the other one, I believed I was charging my purchases on my other card as this was suppose to be the only card I had on the account that was active and would be the only one attached to One Click (allows you to immediately make a purchase).

I explained the situation to Chase and Amazon.com and since they have no record of my trying to cancel the card they consider my charges to be viable. I hadn't used this card in months (Amazon.com card) so it was obvious that I was telling the truth about calling in to cancel the card, but they chose not to believe me.

I have dealt with NUMEROUS credit cards over the years. They typically provide a courtesy waiver of finance charges and late fees, for at minimum, at least one time. Usually they allow even more as they value your business and want to keep you as a company.

Amazon.com's credit card policy is the ONLY one I've come across in 30+ years that prohibits their representatives from allowing such waivers. Apparently they do so much business, they can afford to lose a customer. It is written into their Policy's and Procedures that they are not to allow such waivers; even via Supervisors. I even told amazon.com/Chase that if they allow my waiver I would continue to keep the card active, but to no avail.

Do not be swayed by the $30 or $50 discounts of items if you sign up for a card, unless you can get rid of the card soon after you receive said discount. Most people will find themselves in a situation where the mail did not arrive at their home (problem with mail system), or a number of other factors which can cause in inadvertent late payment; often due to the credit card company representative.

I cannot get my late fees or finance charges back (The First Time in over 30 years), not even as a ONE TIME COURTESY!

If you MAKE EVEN ONE LATE PAYMENT, get ready to PAY!! I can't get waivers because they believe I didn't try to cancel my card when I DID!

No, they are not Obliged apparently because I can't prove my claim, however, do you want to do use a credit card from a company who is so miserly to the point that they can't even provide one courtesy waiver as is customary in the Industry?

Mitch's Report on Amazon

#2Consumer Suggestion

Mitch,
I had horrific problems with Amazon and my credit card which I don't have to go into. Their customer service in India in inept, incompetent, inexperienced and poorly trained. The only way I got results was to directly call the Seatlle corporate office. You can get names and numbers from Hoovers.com.

The people in Seattle responded and helped me. Other than that, I'm never using Amazon again.
