Amco Construction - owner Jacobus "Jake" De Klerk Thief unethical fraud dishonest unresponsive - stole our $2,000 downpayment without doing ANY work on our roof Westfield Massachusetts
After signing a contract for a new roof with Jacobus "Jake" De Klerk of Amco Construction of Springfield, MA (his other address is Westfield, MA), we gave him a $2,000 deposit. He signed the check over to Cheryl De Klerk and she cashed it 3 days later.
After many months of trying to get in touch with him it became apparent that he had no intention of doing the work. We finally found his home phone number and told his answering machine that we were going to the police. He then left us a message asking for 30 days to repay. That was almost 3 months ago.
The Better Business Bureau was anable to get in touch with him. We have now contacted the Attorney General and plan on going to the police.
Do not trust this man!

There was a court case filed, the case was dismissed and no person was found guilty, and the money was send back in full

Did you have a contract? if so you would be in a better position than without. Go to mass.gov and type in "Home Improvement Contractor". Cheryl DeKlerk is state licensed home improvement contractor(#139289). If she cashed the check, then proceed against her with the state.
