A game is being played by competing credit card companies.  Uscrupulous agents know that if a merchant is about to switch processors, the first thing the merchant is going to do is go online and see if there are any complaints from other merchants. Competing companies (sales reps) go online and anonymously trash the competition in order to scare the merchant into staying put.  All credit card processors do this.  If you are currently accepting credit cards, all one need do is research your own company.  You will again see horrible reports of scams and trickery, which will seem foreign to you because you likely haven't experienced what people are complaining about.  These are mostly fabricated by other reps and it happens to every company.

If only a small percentage of those complaints were true, that company would immediately be shut down by the Federal Government.  Credit card processing is a tightly regulated industry in order to prevent fraud and most companies are good companies however, that doesn't prevent anonymous bad reviews to be posted on the internet forever.  The only major difference between one processor over another is going to be cost.  How much are you paying over your fixed costs (interchange) Instead of relying on these anonymous sources, ask for references from other local merchants whom are using the service.  Speak to a real person and don't fall for this hoax.

Ameribanc is a good company and goes above and beyond to keep their customers happy which is why they don't need contracts.  Wrap your head around this:  Ameribanc services 30,000+ merchants with millions of transactions every day all across the country.  In their 14 years of existence they have had only 23 legitimate complaints with the BBB.  Each and every one of those complaints have been addressed to everyone's satisfaction which is why they enjoy an A+ rating from the BBB.

The only other area where there are many less than stellar reviews are from former Ameribanc sales reps.  Glassdoor gives working for Ameribanc 3.4 out of 5 stars.  That should not be an accurate reflection of the company but rather a reflection of the difficulty of sales.  Being a sales rep can be challenging if one doesn't have thick skin and know how to build relationships. For the aspiring Ameribanc sales rep, it is not a get rich quick scheme.  The pay is more than fair but there is no monthly residual paid out to the sales rep which is how Ameribanc can undercut most other processors that do pay a monthly percentage to the rep of a merchants business.

The take home message here is that anyone can go online and say anything about any business, including yours and there is not much you can do about it.  Do your due diligence.
