I aquired an American Express Prepaid sometime back. I attempted to change my bank information for uploading funds and 2 small trial deposits were made into my checking account. I verfied these deposits with Amex & they stated my card was good to go with the new banking information.

However, when I went to load funds their computer site it stated there was no banking info in file. So when I tried to re-enter the banking information it stated "duplicate information." After calling customer service and being put on hold for quite awhile a rep from India (that's where their customer service had been located) answered & I had a hard time trying to get her to understand the problem. Finally she stated that it "always" took an extra week to finalize the verification and process and I should be able to load funds in a week.

Well, that never happened. After weeks of calling, be place on extensive holds & having to re-explain (which I always got a different answer) I was sent to another Department that stated they would create a "Work Order Ticket" to fix the glitch. They stated this would take about 3 days & they would e-mail or call me back.

Of course this never happened and after another 3 1/2 weeks of calling back and being told the same "3 Day story" I asked that they close the card and that I wanted to level a complaint. The person from India stated that there was no venue to do so, so I have resorted to filing with this Rip-Off site. I cannot express my frustration over the inabilty to communicate with the customer service people who politely just read a script and cannot understand any concepts that are not black and white.

To add insult to injury, Amex Prepaid withdrew their 2 trial deposits .06 & .15 cents AND told me there was never a work ticket in place, even though I had been given a work order ticket number!

MY advice to the public, STAY AWAY FROM THIS CARD! While the American Express logo may hold appeal as a sound company, , THE PREPAID CARD is NOT part of the Amex. machine as they have outsourced this card to India where there is no recourse or help if there is a problem. Also, the Amex credit card company in the US has NO access to the Amex Prepaid records and will not be able to help or direct to a place where ther is any resolution.

Sincerely, Cheryle L
