AOL was my first provider and it was no good then. That was back in the time of dial-up connections and they constantly cut off; remember the mess? I finally came to my senses and chose another service. I was HAPPY.

Then I started seeing all the AOL ads and the major improvements that they were bragging about; when I received a bunch of CDs from AOL, I decided to give them another try.

BAD MISTAKE! AOL is no different than it was in 1999. I signed up on November 20, 2005. This was a CD with a 50-day FREE trial. Of course, my credit card was billed for $23.90 on 11/30/05. However, my billing cycle is such that I did not see that charge until the third week in December. I began calling AOL on December 30. I finally reached someone on January 2, 2006, who did accept my cancellation effective January 10.

I asked for a refund. That was another matter. They could not be sure that I would not use AOL after January 10, so they would have to wait until then to make everything official. On January 10, 2006, I was halfheartedly promised a refund, BUT it would take five to seven weeks.

On March 14 (the day after tomorrow),it will be nine (9) weeks. I have not seen anything of a refund. I doubt I will.

My next step is to turn it over to The Rip-off Report and my credit card company. It really isn't that much money; but it is the principle of the thing. A company who is obviously unraveling at the seams is certainly going about this the wrong way. AOL--yoo h*o--if you want to keep customers, you must have integrity in your dealings with them. Since you haven't learned that in the seven years I've dealt with you, I'm afraid the prognosis is very poor.

Perhaps the most telling thing about AOL is that this site, The Rip-off Report, found 1,032 entries for AOL alone. And those are just the people who took the time to write. AOL, I and at least 1,032 other people want our money back. NOW.
