My problem is STILL unresolved. I ordered and payed for two pairs of eyeglasses from "America's Best Contacts and Eyeglasses" over one month ago. They called me and told me that they were in.

I had told someone at the branch when I ordered them to have them shipped to me as I live 3 hours away. He said, no problem. I have called numberous (probably around 10 times) to inquire about their mailing status.

I was told I would be called back, I was told that they were over-nighted to me, I was told they were returned for postage, etc. I spoke with the "Optical Manager" in the Kansas City branch. His name is Scott. He told me on Saturday December 1st that he would overnight them to me and I would get them in my afternoon mail on Monday December 3rd.

I spoke with someone on that Monday to inquire where they were. I was told that they were returned for postage. OK, I thought, maybe they are completely incompetent. Maybe they will get it right this time. They said they would overnight them to me and I would recieve them on Tuesday.

Today is Tuesday and still no glasses. I called them and asked to speak with our friend Scott. He says that my glasses are there at the branch and they never got mailed. He said Saturday their mail person doesn't come.

I then proceeded to ask him why he told me that I would get them on Monday if their mail person doesn't even come on Saturdays. He was speechless. He then told me that they were never even shipped out on Monday. They just plain and simple lied to me.

I need these glasses to come in so I don't have an expired Driver's License. I made a special (3 hour) trip to Kansas City Missouri to get these glasses for that purpose. I went a month in advance to be prepared for the Driver's License exam. I can honestly say I have never had worse service in my entire life. I feel that I should be given my glasses free and would like to speak with upper management of this company.

Subject: America's Worst

Hi,

I'd just like to say that your report is 100% accurate. The people who work there like to try to make you buy unnecessary things and they are extremely rude. I actually called them today and the woman I spoke with was completely and flat out mean to me, lol. I'm usually not one to take that crap, but I was too tired to argue, so I just hung up. That was actually my first time calling that branch. I, like you (or the reporter of the story) am a member of America's best, only a 3 year member, and I have experienced the same problems as you. It's funny because I often refer to the store as America's Worst, lol. I am a member of the Roosevelt Blvd. branch, but I have since moved to NJ, so I called that branch today and of course had horrible and rude service. Anyway, I could go on for hours, days, even months about how horrible their service is, I;m just happy that my contract is up this year! I would love to help your team of reporters by givi

Sincerely,

Colleen A. McDermott

America's Best is saturated with inept, incompetent people..

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report:

Their email: pelemissk@hotmail.com

Their name: Pele

Their relationship to the company: Consumer Suggestion

Rebuttal:

America's Best is saturated with inept, incompetent people. I went there about 5 years ago to get my eyes checked and my prescription updated. They did the eye exam and the 'Doctor' who performed the actual exam barely spoke any English.

I got my glasses when they were promised and when I tried them on

something didn't feel right. New glasses will sometimes make things appear a bit warped the first day or two you wear them, but this was above and beyond anything I'd experienced. I expressed my concerns to the technician and was told it was completely normal considering what a large adjustment I needed in my Rx.

About 1 year later I went to get my eyes checked again. This time at a highly recommened optometrist's office. When he checked my eyes he noticed something wasn't right either in comparison to my Rx history.

It turns out the 'Doctor' at America's Best had given me a VERY wrong Rx and had, in the process, messed up my vision.

America's Best is America's Bad Idea. I've heard several similar

complaints to mine and yours. It seems to me that they offer nothing but overpriced horror stories.
