"America's highest priced and poorly made eyeglasses" is what the commercial should have stated. Instead of the 2 pairs for $69.95t Like the ad stated. (Remember that small "t" after the price, it's important.)

My wife and I both went there and got glasses. Me, a new perscription, and her a first pair. We had to drive 45 miles one way to get to the store in Oxford Al. The employees were friendly and courteous and we were soon getting our eyes examined. The eye doctor who did our exam seemed competent enough and it went off without a hitch.

So then we looked at frames in the $69.95t section. The selection was poor with most of the frames being butt ugly to nearly kid sized. I got a pair that fitand went to find an employee. After sitting down at a table she started adding up what I wanted. "Oh you're going to want scratch coating, and the thin lenses" She said. I asked how much for these which she stsated "Not much at all". How much? She told me the price, and I said no. Well ok, but this is the lenses that you get on the regular deal. I swear she held up a piece of plastic that was a half inch thick. "See how heavy these are!"

So after getting one pair made into sunglasses and the other clear we checked out at over $200.00. then had to come back in 2 weeks because they had to ship them off to Atlanta to be built.

So, 2 weeks later and we drove back down to Anniston to pick them up. They were horrible. Eveything on the clear lens glasses was blurry, with the sunglasses only slightly better. If I looked down it appeared that I was stepping into a hole, and I couldn't read anything over 10 feet away. I got dizzy and my head stared hurting so I took them off and told them to make them right.

"You have to wear them a week to let your eyes adjust sir." The now, not so nice manager stated. I might've grown up on a farm but I sure know bullcrap when I hear it. I told her that I've been wearing glasses since I was 15 and know how the process works. I made enough of a fuss that the eye doctor came out and checked the lenses on some machine.

"These are not even the right perscription." He said.

He checked the sunglasses and they were almost correct...almost. So we went into the back for another eye exam. And they sent them both back to be remade. Meanwhile My wife was having trouble with one of her pairs, the other was fine. The pair she was having trouble with was pinching her and was too tight. Almost like it was not the frame she chose. She badgered them enough so she got a refdund on one of her pairs.

3 weeks later I went back to Oxford to pick up the newly remade pairs of glasses that were sent back. The shades were perfect after a little adjustment, but the regular lenses are still not right. They put them in a machine to check the prescription and said it was correct. And after arguing with them they said they will not remake them. I asked for a refund and they said it was impossible because they already had to remake them (regardless of fault) and since the perscription was correct they would not do it anyway.

So, the problem I have with the clear lenses is that I find it hard to read small text from a distance (store signs) and captions or channel guides on TV's.

I would rather have paid more and got it right the first time than have to go through all the trouble of messing with these con artists posing as opticians.
