Americas readers contacted me a year ago about subscribing to their magazines. Before I knew it I was hooked into 4 years of paying for magazines. They said I'd be receiving something in the mail to confirm the deal. Three days later I called the company and said that I'd changed my mind. They said it was too late.

On about April 9, 2005, I received a call from American Readers to say that because I was "SUCH A GOOD CUSTOMER" that I would be receiving 3 FREE magazines. The woman said that her supervisor would be calling me to verify her call in a few days. Tonight, I received a call from the same company verifying the order for 3 free magazines and that all I would have to pay was $2.00 and some change per week for shipping. I said wait a minute, there was nothing said about shipping costs.

The woman said that the first person did tell me about the extra cost and that I must not have been listening. I said, oh I would have remembered that. I repeated, I don't want your magazines. She said that it was too late and that I don't listen very well and hung up on me. I'm a counselor. There is nothing wrong with my listening skills. I am enraged that I am paying hundreds of dollars for magazines that I just throw away because I never wanted them in the first place.
