My loan was bought by ASC several months ago. When it was sold to ASC I researched the company to see what problems i might expect. i must say I was shocked to see the number of complaints. I was REALLY worried and scared.

It turns out that ASC temporarily "lost" my first payment. When I discusssed this situation with Candice (initials YEJ) she rudely told me that they don't lose payments and it was definatley lost in the mail. I don't know how she would know this anyway considering the address for payments is in California and she was located in Iowa. Anyway, I was told to cancel the check and send another payment.

Instead of making the same mistake twice, I set up bill payment with my bank. I also canceled the check at my cost ($28). Well, after the USPS suposedly "lost" my payment ASC mysteriously cashed the check a week later after speaking with Candice; four weeks after it had been sent to them.

If ASC's customer service department had any sense of how their company operated they would have known that you cannot cancel a check when the payee is ASC. They are purely electronic so they still get your money even when the check is canceled. WOW! Now they have all of my money and my bank account is locked because they now have 2 months rather 1 month's worth of payments.

I could go on all day about the problems I am already having with ASC but I am exhausted from dealing with them. I wouldn't be surprised if there were suicides out there from what this loan servicer puts people through. I am also surprised there are no class action lawsuits against ASC. I pity every person who unwillingly has to deal with these people!!

I was quite surprised today to find that there are intelligent customer service agents at ASC afterall. That is, agents that serve their customers and share their concern when things aren't going well. I spoke with Molina @ ASC today and she was able to have my money from the bad transaction (cashing a canceled check) put right back into my account the same day; actually within hours of speaking with her.

I suggest anyone having problems with ASC calling 866-430-0675 and asking for Molina to help you. She is also having all of my fees I have accrued from my bank due to the mishap refunded as well.

My suggestion for smoother transactions with ASC is to have your bank make the payment for you. Most banks will allow you to set up a payee for online bill pay. It usually takes about 2 days from the time you schedule the payment and is usually a free service. Since I have started paying my mortgage this way I have had no problems.

If ASC tells you your payment is "lost" and you should canel the check DO NOT do a paper check cancelation. ASC electronically debits all checks so it will not be caught this way. You need to cancel an electronic transaction. This I found out after ASC customer service instructed me to cancel my check.

Hope this helps some of you. Good Luck.

Hi, I've talked to Candace too! In fact I"ve talked to ASC on the phone about a dozen and a half times so I think I"ve talked to all of them there. You need to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, Office of the Attorney General in your state, the Better Business Bureau, and you also need to send a "qualified" written request to ASC. Follow the directions at these links:

Maryland Attorney General:
http://www.oag.state.md.us/Consumer/complaint.htm

FTC:
https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01

BBB:

Qualified Written Request instructions here:

Good luck and read my complaint below.
