I called ASC to send a principal amount payment check and I was given an address in L.A. I sent it via USPS Certified Receipt. This worked although I was unaware that my cashiers check had to be processed twice as ASC did not endorse it. Duh! I found out about this when I repeated the same drill. Except this time one month later I received a call from their collections unit telling me my payment was late. I told them they had to be off-base as I checked with their automated response and I have their latest monthly billing statement showing my payment. I thought it was a fraud.

So I called ASC customer service and found out my check was not honored by my bank. I then called my bank and they informed me that they sent it back for an endorsement per their policy and my protection. I then called ASC and talked to yet more people (always someone different). They were rude most of the time and said it was my fault/problem. They did not have the check and I should go back to my bank.

This went on for over one month with new people and never any help to get it resolved. I finally did get it resolved. I can only recommend that you contact the Federal Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. They have a complaint form and regulate banks. I also found out that ASC is a subsidiary of Wells Fargo Banks. I called them (San Francisco address) and spoke to a nice individual who would investigate. This individual never got back to me after repeated calls.

My resolution came after sending numerous pieces of documented evidence and hounding the crap out of WF and ASC. My bank was also helpful in providing a solution which they did not have to endorsement of a photo copy - my original cashiers check was never found). I finally received a letter basically telling me that it was resolved but I and my bank were at fault. I sent this individual a long response as well as copies to the OCC and the President of Wells Fargo.

I did not hear back (which I figured) but I also told them I would do everything in my power to never be a customer of either business and to let others know about their tactics and total lack of customer service. They have no names of officers. They have only a PO Box. Their phone number listed for Maryland is not working. This is a scam operation and I hold Wells Fargo Banks at fault for allowing such a sham operation. It will be good to finally get rid of them entirely!
