As I was going through my bank statement today, I noticed that ASC had taken $242.00 more than they should have for my mortgage payment. I tried to find anything from ASC notifing me about the increase, but to no avail. I did however find that they had taken an extra property tax payment (from escrow) back in October. To date that makes 3 payments they took last year. I pay may taxes via escrow twice a year. I will be calling ASC on Monday and find out why. I don't know about anyone else, but I cant afford to lose that kind of money.

Got the taxes refunded

After talking to ASC, found out that the county auditor had caught the problem and refunded the excess money back to my escrow account. ASC said they were sending us a refund check today. The new mortgage statement we received yesterday also shows the money put back into escrow. I'm not holding my breath on the check.

Request An Audit

#3Consumer Suggestion

Request an audit, in writing going back several years. Then contact the Tax office to make sure the numbers match. If there was a shortage in the escrow account for the taxes, they may need to increase the funds available. You pay twice a year and notice it more than people who have the fund withdrawn each month. If the taxes are going up, they may have attempted to cover it. A while back the bank failed to make my tax payment on time and tried to stick me for their mistake. They got to pay the penalty.
