My 1000-dollar digital camera was taken out from my luggage. It was gone when I got to Boston, coming from Miami. I called American Airlines but they said they only cover shoes and clothing.

I don't care if TSA personnel, or any other agency did it, the airline has to guarantee the satisfaction of its customers. Why can't the place surveillance cameras wherever luggage is opened?

I have been flying American Airlines since 2003 and have accumulated more than 120,000 frequent flyer miles. Now I am very disappointed about this company.

Cameras and the like need to be carried on, not checked

Even before TSA, these kind of things are commonplace, but AA can't control every single person who handles baggage at both airports!

You agreed to the limitations on baggage liability when you bought the ticket: (from their website) "No liability for photographic equipment, computers, VCRs and any other electronic equipment including software or components, jewelry, cash, documents, furs, works of art or other similar valuable items"

WHY would anybody leave a "$1000 digital camera" in their check on luggage? It makes about as much sense as leaving it on your car seat in a parking lot. I mean come on. I think the max the airlines will cover is $400 per bag unless you buy extra insurance in which case they slap a HIGH VALUE sticker on your bag which almost guarantees it's gonna get stolen. Same thing goes for a bag that has a weapon in it. They stick an UNLOADED HANDGUN sticker on it. Why not just carry the camera in your carry on bag? All the TV channels have done reports about all the thefts by the airlines AND TSA employees. A large number of TSA employees were fired for stealing from luggage last year. There are a number of reports on this site alone. It's not like nobody knew about it. You took a gamble and lost. Check with your home owner's insurance. MAYBE they'll cover it.
