"You won $55,000 in a sweepstakes" letter. This is an old one.

Scammer sends a fake check in the amount of $3975, saying that taxes must be paid first because of an insurance bond policy. The sweepstakes was apparently drawn months earlier, and there is risk that the winnings are going to be declared null soon. You must then contact a "barrister", who will do the following: Try to get you to send $2935 in cash up front because the winnings cannot be released until the taxes are paid! hahaha! Only an idiot would believe this, but I am posting to update the names in case anyone else got the same letter this month and can't sleep until they are completely sure they're not really going to win anything. (guilty).
