Complaint Review: American Auto Shield LLC

American Auto Shield, LLC Motor Vehicle Division Factory Warranty Expiration Notice Arvada, Colorado

This official looking letter with the infamous "FINAL NOTICE" stamped on it makes it sound like you need to call 1-866-503-4680 right now to extend your factory warranty. The biggest problem I have with this letter is that on the front and top of this letter it says "MOTOR VEHICLE DIVISION" (with the U.S. seal no less!) which sounds like it's from your local DMV and maybe it's even required by law that you get your warranty extended. Only by reading the fine print do you find that this is a "special limited time offer" from American Auto Shield, LLC. I'm guessing it comes from AAS's motor vehicle division but it's extremely misleading to put "MOTOR VEHICLE DIVISION" on this warranty offer.

While this isn't illegal it's in poor taste, don't patronize a company with such deceptive mail tactics.

This sounds like an excuse to cover your own culpability while doing nothing to prevent it from continuing. A responsible company would say something to the effect of "We realize that some of our contract sales companies have aggressive sales tactics which we do not endorse and are taking the following steps to remedy the situation. (List of things like asking callers how they found out about the deal, what the deal said, who referred them, etc... and making sure they know they are under NO obligation to purchase.)?

Same letter, different company

I received the same exact letter but there is no company name on it. When I called the number (866-503-4680) someone said it was "Enterprise Auto Protection" so I'm not sure if it's the same company just using two names or someone reselling different warranty loans. Either way whoever is doing it should be shut down.

We have nothing to do with contract sales.  The customer should be careful to make complaints against the right company.  We do not do any mailings and don't sell contracts directly.
