Complaint Review: American Camera Company

American Camera Company  Got the same spill as the other guy. He said I need the 6 hour battery, and the camera did not come with a battery or charger. After getting me to agree to purchase the battery and charger. I had to give my credit card for the purchase. He said I would get the camera in 5 to 7 days . Did not get a shipping notice and no tracking number or carrier provided.  Internet

American Camera Company Phone # 530-212-8350 ext 1 Got the same spill as the other guy. I first send a email requesting the method of shipment etc. That fell on deaf ears. I am going to call them tomorrow and as for a refund. Since I don't believe they have he camera in stock in the first place. They need to be turned in to the BBB and write the Attorney General in the state the do business.

American Camera Company does not do business above board.  They use bait and switch techniques to sell you up to item that should come with your camera in the first place.  I called them on the 27th of August to order a camera body that they had advertised.  It was about 75.00 cheaper than everone elses ads on the Internet.  I placed the order in the evening and got the confirmation email etc.  However, I got another email the next morning stating the needed to confirm my order before it could be processed by phone.  This is when the guy told me the camera came without the battery or charger.  A red flag should have gone up and I should have cancelled the order right there.  But he want on to explain that for a small amount more I could get a battery that had a six hour run time.  I am going to write Nikon about the practices of this vendor it gives them a bad reputation.

Anyway he processed my order and told me that I would have my camera body within 5 to 7 days.  I asked him for a tracking number and he informed me that he was not at the warehouse and they were the ones that filled the orders etc.  Ten days has passed and no camera.  I wrote the customer support about getting a tracking number and got no answer.  I am going to call the number I have and persue the tracking number once more.  If they give me the run arould then I am going to ask for a immediate refund.  I am not sure what Visa can do maybe they can do a charge back to the merchant.   But I have a sneaky feeling that no camera has been shipped and they probaby didn't even have it in stock in the first place.

Well I am one of the lucky ones.  Visa has charged back the purchase as a freud transaction.  I recovered my monies from Visa.  You should always contact your bank or credit card company as soon as you suspect freud.  They (Visa) informed me that they get a lot of complaints over Internet purchases.

I've learned my lesson checkout sites and share your thoughts on purchases with others both good and bad on sites such as ripoffreport.com.
