Complaint Review: AMERICAN CASH AWARDS PAYOUT SERVICE - VARIOUS

Here's the main deal with these people - they primarily prey on people via cell phone calls but will call your home/landline- however they obtain the numbers - and typically they claim like so many others - that they have a major sweepstakes or lottery payout - and again typically - they inform you that all you have to do is arrange to send them anywhere from $199 to $6,000 via MoneyGram to cover the tax and the "out of country" fees for delivery - - etc. - etc. - - special UPS or Federal Marshall couriers - - -
The bigger problem here is that they call from 876 area code numbers - which are based out of Kingston, Jamaica - and any calls that you accept - or return - ARE CHARGED INTERNATIONAL RATES ANYWHERE FROM $1.00 TO $2.00 - PER MINUTE - which you don't realize until you get your cell or regular phone bill - so beware - even if you have an all inclusive rate plan - without paying for international calling - YOU WILL BE CHARGED - which I found out the hard way - trying to trap these people - and subsequently being charged over $160.00 by my phone company - which by the way - in a legitimate "unknown" situation - they will usually afford some credit back for -
THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO IS NOT ANSWER ANY CALLS FROM THE 876 AREA CODE - AND DEFINITELY DON'T RETURN ANY - IT GETS WAY TOO COSTLY
