I recently enrolled my daughter in the Medical Assisting program. I am a student myself and have filed many FAFSA. I told the school I would file the paperwork for the loans and they all but demanded they file them for us. I thought this was a alittle weird but allowed the financial aid person to file it. After the first student loan disbursment checks were to be received no students had gotten them. Months went by and still no checks. The person in charge of student loans at the school repeatedly changed the story as to why the checks were not there. After threating the Dean with Government involvement my daughter received her check...BUT the loan official at the school made each individual person ride with her to the bank and the kids were not allowed to see the check, but were told to sign the back only. My daughter had no idea how much the check was for. The school then took $500.00 of her check and said it was to pay on her student loans...WHAT!! The school is stealing money from students loan checks!

Many of the students checks are still being delayed for reasons of the school says the money has not been disbursed to them. But if you call the federal loan support number they tell you the monies have been received by your school several months ago...The schools staff is unproffesional and may not even have teaching degrees I assume from the abilities shown. My daughters teacher for clinicals does not remember what she has told them to do 15 minutes earlier and ner class is suppose to graduate into work training in 5 weeks but has not even been taught how to draw blood or other duties required of a medical assistant.

I would love to find out how to file a claim with the federal goverment for this school to go under investigation. Prior students of this school confirm the run around on student loan disbursment as well and something needs to be done...STUDENTS BEWARE!!!

If what you say is true, you may have a good case for fraud.  I would immediately contact the lender for the loans and discuss it with them. You can find them by going to the Department of Education website (www.ed.gov).  They can advise you on the best course of action.

I would also contact their accrediting body (American Council for Independent Colleges and Schools) at  www.acics.org, and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (www.thecb.state.tx.us).
