I chose to go to American Commercial College in chances of furthering my education quickly. WRONG!!! I received pell grants that did not even cover half of my tuition. I finished with a high G.P.A. just to learn that I was going to have to pay $9,000.00 back. I DO not think this was worth it. Why, you ask? Because they did not help me find a job through job placement because they could not ever keep a job placement specialist. Throughout the last 4 years there is no telling how many people they have went through. Then on top of that the school is NOT accredited, meaning your credits DO NOT transfer to another school. That sucks!! And now that it has been 5 years and counting I still have not been able to find a job making more money than average using these skills. Now I'm like what was the purpose of going back to school? To put myself more in debt? That was why I chose to go to school, to make MORE money! So for anyone wanting or considering to go to American Commercial College, I am glad you read this report and you make the decision wisely!!! I would hate for this to happen to anyone else.

If you don't want to go to this school then don't go. You should do your homework before you go to any school. I did graduate from this school and I did find work because of the diploma I received from this school.

I knew that I would not be able to transfer my credits. I also knew what kind of students loans I would have to pay back before I started.

I learned many things that has helped me in work at this school. I would not do it any different. I believe my education there was well worth my time and money.

ACICS Accreditation

American Commercial College is accredited by ACICS. ACICS accredits Proprietary schools and career colleges. It is not the same accreditationas traditional colleges, state junior colleges and universities. These "real"colleges won't even put it on your transcript. American Commercial College is a for profit school and their main goal is to get as many students to process loans and to make a profit. They will take your credits from other schools as long as it does not knock you out of them getting paid by the government. They are willing to give some credits. The problem is when you try to get credit for those classes you took at ACCat another school. Call any "real" college and I guarantee they will not give you credit. So realistically, your credits are not valid at any other traditional college. They would probably take them at everest, corinthian, devery or other career college that is just looking for your money.....Don't get Scammed!!!!

ACC is an accredited college. If they were not my credits from other colleges would not transfer and allow me to "credit out" of courses. This is not just my opinion I made sure to do my research before adding this rebuttal. You can go to the Accrediting Council For Independent Colleges and Schools at http://www.acics.org and do a search. ACC is accredited through them. Now, as far as all of the other accusations, I'm not sure what to tell you about those but, I'm fixing to enroll in ACC and I won't have any debt incurred while furthering my education. I am applying for grants and other financial aid other than loans. I can't afford that much debt and I refuse to put myself in that position, which is why I did all of my research before enrolling. You can still apply for all sorts of grants to pay for your debt you just have to look for them, then you can find the job you need without worrying about that debt. I hope that this may help anyone who reads this make an entirely informed decision. Do your research, if you can't afford to incur debt then try to find all of the grants that you can. My Pell Grant is going to cover about half of my tuition and all of the other grants I apply for will cover the rest. My church is also helping me cover some of it as well as helping pay for gas to drive to and from so, there's another option. Just know that one or two people's stories aren't the whole story, there are a lot of other people who attend this college that are very happy with their decision.
