I applied for a credit card with United Credit Bank back in 98 or 99. I used the card and found that my actual credit limit was about 38.00 because the card had already been billed for something. I never ordered anything with the card prior to receiving it and didn't understand how it was charged without my consent. I called and cancelled the card, sent a payment of 40.00 since it was late, by money order to the company and called it a day.

I am now trying to buy a home and learned there is a charge for 300.00 on my credit report for an installment contract with ACE.

I had no idea who they were. I assumed they were ACE check cashing and knew it had to be a misunderstanding. I had taken out a short term payday loan but they were paid back.

When I spoke to the rep, he said they weren't ACE check cashing and that I owed the money. When I asked for what he couldn't explain.

I want this off of my report and I'm not paying for something I didn't order or receive. What do I do now?
