There I wasyou know like most Americans on a cold December night days before Christmas Shopping on the Internet, and at the time I was on Apple i-Tunes Store looking to purchase some Gift Cards for the Christmas holidaysooo like any other year I pulled out my American Express Gold Card and went to checkout only to find that for some reason my AMEX card was not working so I re-entered it again thinking I might have made a error in typing in the info well after about the third try I sat there confused and said this has never happened before, I knew about a month prior I received a new card and used it successfully many times since.

At this time I called American Express and got a representative on the phone, she put me on hold for awhile to check something on the account and then came back and said Mr. ----- your card has been cancelled or terminated, of course I was in utter shock and confused in wondering why and what for, it surly can not be for being late seefirst of all you have to understand that for over 15 years that I have had my Gold Card, in those 15 years I have never and I mean NEVER been late or missed a payment and always paid the balance off monthly with a nothing but less then a perfect track record, and in fact I have even paid twice within some months.

She said no sir, I do see that you have paid on time and you do have a great paying history, but unfortunately you card has been cancelled At this time I was waiting for Ashton Kutcher to jump on the phone and tell me I have been Punked unfortunately no Ashton

After waiting and trying to get a Manager on the phone I finally got to speak with Steven a Floor Manger, He expressed that American Express has in-acted some new policies that all accounts are to be credit checked and that the debt to earnings ratio be closely monitored soooo.I expressed I guess never mind that you're a Good Paying Customer for over 15 years and that all your Credit Bureau scores are in the 700's.

Sooo I ask you how does a Giant in the credit card business take good solid customers who have been excellent in there paying commitments and just kick them to the curb? I realize that times are tuff within this country but is this how we treat good customers? and if so it's become a sad day in America and companies like American Express who carry our nations name.

I know that there are all types of casualties to war but I'm certain that these casualties will never forget

Is there any one else that has experienced the same issue? - Lets try to band together on this... are there any attorneys out there that can help?

Hope someone can help

Unfortunately, American Express is a LENDER. They have the responsibility to control spending. Think of it this way, would you give money to someone that may be going through a real hard time, or you know something financially destructive may happen to them, and that they probably would not be able to pay it back? The answer is NO. American Express is being responsible, and if they felt lending to you would be irresponsible, then they are just protecting you

And it has nothing to do with your credit rating -

After years and years of granting credit to those who have now since defaulted - - those who never should have been given credit in the first place they are just cutting services across the board.

What is wrong is the lie that it had anything to do with your credit.
