I have been with American Family Insurance Company for over 10 years. I had not had an incident since 1997 and then in 2006 and 2007 I just had 2 bad years. In 06' I got a speeding ticket and then 07' and accident. They raised my rates for a couple of months which I took full responsiblity for but then today I recieve a letter in the mail stating that they are dropping me. I can't believe this. I am 28 and have made it through all the young age high rate insurance years flawlessly and finally I have an accident which cost the insurance company around $2500.00 and they dropped me. I might be wrong but isn't that what we pay these companies for. Furthermore I am actually glad they dropped me cause I am real sick of the constantly fluctuating premiums they have no good explaination for. DO NOT GET INSURANCE WITH THESE PEOPLE.

Giving only 1/2 the Story

Why do people only list 1/2 the information when filing a complaint? Are you sure you were not involved in any more accidents? Be honest and realistic. American Family would not drop somebody due to 1 accident and 1 ticket in an 10 year period. Typically it's when you have a few accidents of $1000 or more or when you have a few tickets within the last 3 years.

Yes, insurance is there for people to file claims. But keep in mind...insurance is the business of assessing risk. The more claims/tickets you have, the more of a risk you obviously are so the premiums need to be higher to compensate. You're probably being dropped into their Standard rates instead of being in the cheaper Preferred Rates.

Why not call your company and ask them to read your record to you? Then you should come back on here and update your complaint explaining you only gave 1/2 the info.
