Complaint Review: American Financial (Merchant Card)

I was orginally contacted by American Financial back in June. They offer a merchant card for their 'online mall.' They offer a credit limit of $2000.00 with a one time payment of $200.00. For this one time fee, they say they will mail you a package with your card, all the information needed to access their online shopping mall, and four $50.00 vouchers. The package is supposed to immediately follow after you sign a form and send/fax back. They say that they report to the credit agencies every 30 days. I thought this would be a good way to re-establish my credit.

Here is my issue, I NEVER received a package. I made several phone calls to american financial stating this, only to hear that we're sorry, we don't know what happened, we are re-putting your name on the mailing list and sending you a new package immediately. They did this twice and NOTHING. This happened and I ended up past the point where I can file a dispute with my bank. I am out the $200.00, I cancelled the account, even though I never got anything. I was told on the last call with them that I would be charged a $30.00 inactive fee! For something I don't yet have!? UH, NO! Cancel Now!

I am writing this to warn people of this scam. Please don't repeat my mistake. This has turned out to be a bogus thing, don't get scammed~don't be fooled, if they call, consider yourself warned. There are other ways of improving credit.
