On 3 24 2005, I received a phone call from " American Grant Information Center, 10621A, OZone Park, New York, NY, 11417.
A Mr Austin Mendez told me I was "qualified" for a grant of 5k to 25k, all I had to do was give him my bank account number and I would be sent on to another person [ Gene Anderson ] for conformation and it would be recorded. I spoke with Gene and he played a tape to which I answered yes or no. Afterward, I told Gene that my acceptance of this was conditional and gave only my checking account number, minus the routing number to be given upon my checking out his company. The 24th was a thursday and Gene called me on Sat., 3 26 05, "reminding" me to have the $249.00 plus other fees in my account.
When I questioned a call on a Sat., he started to put the ' heat on ' to have the money in my account for a transaction April 2, 2005. I replied that I did not have the funds and to cancel all transactions. Gene hung up on me. I have made several attemps to call their "Customer Service" # 866 454 4564, all I get is a machine.
I called the 800 # for the Phone service and they did not know about the above, and were a manufacturing company. I have recorded the phone calls. Upon searching out more information about " American Grant Information Center " I will file a formal complaint with the Attorney General, FBI, and others.
I went to my banker and reported the above, canceled and changed my accounts yesterday, 3 28 05. And requested information if an attemp to electronically access my old account. Which will be turned in to the authorities !!!!!!! Don't fall for this scam. If it sounds to good to be true... it probably is not.
