American Heartland Homes Rick Merlini Poor homebuilder-numerous issues with new construction-cannot get response from builder Sterling Heights, Michigan
Do not hire this builder. Numerous issues since we moved into the house 2007. Leaky windows, drywall issues. Driveway cracked and broken, siding falling off due to incorrect installation by siding company. NOTHING FIXED due to arbitration and couldn't get anything fixed because they had no record of complaints..packed up shop and moved to NC. No help there! Truth: bankruptcy. We have been through a nightmare. House is a money pit..latest issue:
For 6 yrs vinyl siding has been coming off house on high wind days. We had a friend that does construction (licensed) he came over and took a look to help us. He said that the reason why the siding is coming off (when there are high winds) is because the siding company failed to secure the siding correctly at 16 in, but 2 1/2 ft. The house is destroyed, apprx $10-15K worth of damage as an estimate.. We need immediate assistance before house starts leaking.
We have contacted the builder, Rick Merilini at http://www.americanheartlandhomes.com/custom-home-builders-about-us.php...PHONE 586 725-7225, email. rick@livewellcustomhomes.com. He will not respond to us..no surprise there. History: Billy Latour (employed by Merlini) did nail and fix 2 pieces of siding on the 1st yr we were in the home to help us. He is no longer employed by American Heartland or Merilini.
Our insurance company will not cover the damage as the deductible is $46K for wind/hail (market and area cost of repair) they base it on 10% of replacement value. No help there!
Also, this is happening to 10 American Heartland houses in the neighborhood, most are in the same situation we are...We need to find out the siding contractors name and go after them, if they are still in business. Rick we will continue to deface your company unless you respond to us!
