In every community there is one homebuilder that manages to establish itself among homebuyers as an incompetent, untrustworthy, and poorly managed company with low standards for quality, style, service, and value. In the St. Louis Metropolitan area, it is American Heritage.

While their name may be new to you, their history of lies and poor customer service has been around for years. American Heritage has long been a name that has come to mean the worst in new home construction and now that inexperience and poor service is under a locally owned and managed firm.

They still stand for the low standards of ethics and quality built into their company years ago. Although they are the fastest growing builder in St. Louis they continue an aggressive effort to run their company into the ground. They should have never received the Associated General Contractors Keystone Award in 2001, but they did, and they laughed all the way to the bank.

Whether you choose to build one of their plans in an existing community, or a custom piece of crap on your lot; their poorly trained construction team and office staff will consistently provide you with poor service that falls short time and time again. You can be confident that your home will be built to the "minimum building standards." I know, because they actually said this to me.

Their goal is more than just building homes, it's cutting corners to make lots of money and turning your dreams into nightmares.

When you buy American Heritage, you're not a customer, your just a lot number.

Do not buy from American Heritage.

08/03/04 was our closing and 3 days prior we recieved a phone call advising us that american heritage would not close feeling we would never be satisfied with the home and that our influence on potential customers would be devastating to their future sales. we bought the andover atrium ranch elevation (d) but recieved (c) elevation , 3 styles of shingles on 1 roof ,wrong cabinets, wrong vaulted ceilings, wrong windows, wrong electrical outlets, wrong placement of poured patio, wrong concrete driveway, they lied to us about silent floor system and delivered standard 2x10 joist, installed damaged bathtub and would not replace it, drywall taping and sanding looked to be done by doc frankenstien at best,no more could be done with improving the cracks and taping errors, uneven walls, door frames, wrong foundation poured, water damaged dry wall in front foyer and garage that will create mold issues due to their neglegence, the on site forman never to be found and rude, unjustified behavior when you do find them, salesperson was unknowledgeable, told you anything just to get you out of office then blamed failure of communication on workers, all this and much more occured at lot 4 hunters glen we appealed to president of the company and was told he was voted out just days before, due to bankruptcy pending and buyouts looming in near future, with all this and just acroos from their display they felt we would imform future home buyers of our situation so they voided the contract with 3 days to go before closing and are making arrangements on return of our deposits.that very day we sought out a home in raintree custome built with tons more standard options 500 plus more square ft 2600 quality workmanship with view of the lake for the same price, so actually what they did worked out very well for our family we now have a home that is built to last a lifetime. meanwhile i have filed with the bbb and home builders assc and will give this website to taylor morley who is the builder that american heritage knocked so badley when we were first looking out at hunters glen- please i repeat please dont be so taken by the display becoause it lacks quality workmanship that the novice eye will find hard to spot their word and contract mean nothing and can at anytime void for no reason leaving you with storage fees, rental truck fees and furniture deliveries on the dock unable to be delivered, not to mention custom blinds, curtains, bedding all that was to be matched for the home useless, i amm a realestate agent of 8 years expience so dont think it cant happen to you even gordan gundaker hiself was not able to pursuade them to appeal to our concerns during the building process, it was all wine and roses w/redcarpet treatment till the day we handed over our construction deposit, then the carnival dissappeared and we were left alone with noone to hear for our cries for help,so buyer beware search out a individual home builder you will be so happy that you did stay clear from these big builders who only know you as a lot number, not as a family making the largest single investment of our lives seeking happiness and security that is insignifigant to them, dont look ,dont stop, dont listen, just keep driving
